About MealMatch AI

MealMatch AI is a live, AI-powered meal planning and nutrition app on iOS built around a simple belief: food is medicine. We help people eat healthier, spend smarter, and reduce food waste — all through personalized AI-generated meal plans, smart grocery integration, and an AI companion named Kofi that actually gets to know you.

We've launched, we have users, and we're building toward our next level. That means it's time to bring on a designer who can help us get there.

The Role

We're looking for one exceptional person who can do both — design and research. Not a generalist who dabbles in each, but someone who understands that great UX is impossible without real user insight, and that great research means nothing if it doesn't ship into a beautiful, intuitive product.

This is a founding design role. You'll own the design process end to end, with direct access to the CEO and the product roadmap.

What You'll Own

UI/UX Design

• Evolve our existing iOS app design — we're live, so this is about elevation, not just creation
• Design new feature sets including our Health Dashboard, condition-aware meal planning, and dietitian booking experience

• Build and maintain a design system, style guide, and component library in Figma
• Ensure visual consistency, accessibility, and mobile-first polish across every screen

UX Research

• Own the user research function — interviews, usability tests, surveys, and synthesis
• Translate findings into actionable design decisions and product recommendations
• Identify friction points in our current onboarding, subscription, and meal generation flows
• Help us understand our users deeply: their goals, habits, frustrations, and motivations

Collaboration

• Work directly with our CEO, CTO, and AI engineer to align design with product and technical realities
• Partner with our registered dietitian collaborator to ensure health-forward experiences feel credible and trustworthy
• Contribute to investor materials, pitch decks, and brand presentation as needed

What We're Looking For

• 1+ year of UI/UX design experience with a portfolio that demonstrates both craft and process
• Some exposure to user research — interviews, usability tests, or synthesis work, even from academic or personal projects
• Proficiency in Figma and comfort working within an existing design language while pushing it forward
• Understanding of mobile-first and iOS design patterns
• Experience with health, wellness, food, or consumer apps is a plus but not required
• Someone who takes ownership, communicates clearly, and thrives in an async, remote environment
• Genuine alignment with our mission — this isn't just a gig, it's a stake in something real
