Director of Engineering - R&D

Location: Memphis, TN (Hybrid - in office Tuesday-Thursday)
Compensation: $140,000-$160,000 base + 15% bonus | Relocation available




We are seeking an experienced Director of Engineering - R&D to lead the development of connected, digitally enabled electromechanical products. This role is ideal for a hands-on engineering leader with a strong R&D mindset, deep controls and IoT experience, and the ability to guide teams through evolving technologies.
This is not a Manufacturing Engineering role. While manufacturing exposure is helpful, the core focus is product development, controls, and connectivity.

What You'll Do

• Lead and mentor R&D engineering teams developing next-generation connected products
• Provide hands-on technical oversight of electromechanical system design
• Drive integration of IoT-enabled technologies, including:
  • Wi?Fi and Bluetooth connectivity
  • Back-end control systems
  • Hardware/software integration
• Guide development and validation of:
  • Motor controllers

  • Control systems with IoT connectivity
• Collaborate cross-functionally to move concepts from early R&D through product launch
• Set technical direction, ensure design integrity, and maintain high standards for quality, reliability, and performance

What We're Looking For

• Electrical and/or Mechanical Engineering foundation (BS required; advanced degree a plus)
• 10-15+ years of overall engineering experience
• 5+ years leading Engineering or R&D teams
• Proven experience developing connected, digitally enabled products
