ASTA Health Tech is turning every hospital bed into an intelligent one. Our device agnostic platform uses computer vision to read any existing bedside monitor, with no replacements, no IT project, and no workflow change, transforming general wards into ICU grade smart units in under 30 minutes. We are live in multiple hospitals across India, in daily clinical use since 2025. Being live at the bedside for as long as we have, in the kinds of environments we operate in, creates opportunities that are difficult to replicate from the outside.

The problems we work on involve real world variability, noisy signals, and system constraints that do not appear in benchmark datasets. We are at the stage where core system decisions are still being defined, and early team members will shape what this becomes.

Role Description

You will own the entire clinician-facing software surface at ASTA, across both web and mobile. This includes the clinical dashboards, nurse facing alerting interfaces, and administrative consoles that doctors and nurses use every shift, as well as our Android and iOS applications used at the bedside by clinicians today and, in the near future, by MD students for data annotation work.

The bar is unusually high. A cluttered UI in a ward is a safety issue, not a cosmetic one. An app that drops a notification or crashes mid-annotation is not just an inconvenience, it compromises clinical care and research integrity. You will design real time data visualizations for continuous vital streams that are readable in a glance, trustworthy at 3am, and fast enough to keep up with per second updates across many beds. You will ship Android and iOS experiences that work reliably in real hospital conditions, including intermittent connectivity, varied device hardware, and clinicians who have fifteen seconds to complete a task.

You will own the frontend architecture across all surfaces: component systems, state management, performance, accessibility, offline handling, and testing. You will define how clinicians interact with real time clinical signals across multiple beds, and how students and researchers contribute annotations that feed back into our models.

In your first 90 days, you will likely:

• Ship the first version of a real time clinical dashboard used by nurses and doctors.
• Ship a meaningful update to our Android and iOS apps, improving the daily experience of clinicians already using them.
• Establish the frontend architecture, component system, and design conventions for everything that follows across web and mobile.
• Work directly with clinicians to validate the interface in live ward conditions.

Compensation and the Trade Off

This is an equity first founding role. Early team members are compensated through meaningful ownership in the company, structured to reflect founding level contribution rather than standard employee grants. We expect to introduce cash compensation post seed, targeting Q3 2026, at which point standard W 2 employment begins.

This role is best suited for individuals who would otherwise consider founding or joining a very early stage startup. You are taking asymmetric upside risk in exchange for meaningful ownership, real influence on product and company direction, and the chance to build something that measurably keeps people alive.

Eligibility

Open to US citizens and green card holders only. Fully remote within the US. Due to current payroll and compliance setup for our US entity, we are temporarily limited in the states we can hire from and are not currently able to consider candidates residing in California, Washington, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Illinois, Oregon, New York, Colorado, or the District of Columbia. We expect to expand in Q3 2026.

Qualifications

• Strong proficiency in modern JavaScript/TypeScript and React or comparable framework.
• Strong proficiency in React Native for iOS and Android development, with shipped apps to show for it. If you have built cross-platform clinical, consumer, or enterprise apps that are in daily use by real users, tell us.
• Strong grasp of HTML, CSS, responsive design, and web performance fundamentals.
• Experience building real time, data dense interfaces (WebSocket’s, streaming updates, charting libraries).
• Experience with mobile-specific concerns: app store release workflows, offline-first architectures, push notifications, and handling unreliable network conditions.

• Comfort with REST and/or GraphQL APIs.
• Experience with testing and CI/CD workflows.
• Bachelors in CS or equivalent demonstrated work.

Preferred

• Experience with healthcare or other high stakes interfaces.
• Familiarity with HL7/FHIR.
• Native iOS (Swift) or native Android (Kotlin) experience, in addition to React Native.
• Experience designing data annotation or labeling interfaces for research or ML workflows.
• Prior early-stage startup experience.
