About the Role
The organization is hiring a Payroll & Benefits Coordinator to help support and scale one of the most critical functions. As the company continues to grow, additional support and redundancy are needed to ensure accuracy, continuity, and a great employee experience in payroll and benefits operations.
This role will work closely with the Senior Payroll & Benefits Specialist to execute day-to-day payroll and benefits operations while building a strong understanding of the full function. The individual will play a key role in keeping things running smoothly.
Key Responsibilities
- Support end-to-end payroll processing across multiple states and countries using Remote.
- Review and validate timekeeping data, including hours worked and PTO, ensuring accuracy before payroll runs.
- Process payroll changes including new hires, compensation updates, terminations, bonuses, and adjustments.
- Administer employee benefits programs (health, dental, vision, 401(k), etc.), including enrollments and life event changes.
- Manage contractor lifecycle operations, including agreements (SOWs), onboarding, and invoice schedules.
- Coordinate offboarding processes, including system updates, benefits terminations, and cross-functional alignment.
- Serve as a point of contact for employee questions related to payroll and benefits, and support internal documentation and process improvements.

Required Qualifications
- Strong alignment with the organization's values.
- 4+ years of experience in payroll, benefits, or a related function, ideally in a high-growth or distributed company.
- Strong understanding of payroll fundamentals, including taxes, deductions, and compliance basics.
- Experience working with payroll systems and HRIS tools, including exposure to international payroll.
- Advanced spreadsheet skills (e.g., lookups) and a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage recurring deadlines and handle sensitive information with discretion.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English, as most collaboration happens asynchronously.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a remote-first or distributed company.
- Familiarity with multi-state payroll requirements in the U.S.
- Exposure to benefits compliance (ACA, COBRA, etc.).
Compensation
- $90,000 - $110,000 USD per year.
- The cash compensation range shown is a starting point. In addition to equity, benefits and perks, cash compensation is subject to an annual review and increase on a once per year basis.
