We're partnering with a critical Government department focused on Policy & Analytics, dedicated to transforming vast public datasets into clear, actionable visual insights that drive policy decisions and resource allocation. For the right candidate with the necessary skills and experience, we are pleased to offer 482 visa sponsorship.
This client requires a Senior Tableau Developer to be the visualization and dashboard authority. You will work closely with economists and policy analysts to translate complex statistical models into intuitive, high-performance Tableau workbooks. This role demands mastery of Tableau's advanced features, deep data modelling skills, and the ability to define and enforce analytical governance practises in a secure government environment.
- Lead the design, development, and maintenance of complex, high-impact Tableau dashboards and stories used for executive decision-making and public reporting.
- Architect and optimise Tableau data sources (artefacts) and data models (e.g., star schema, custom SQL) to ensure fast load times and reliable performance across the organization.
- Develop highly sophisticated calculations, Level of Detail (LOD) expressions, and parameters in Tableau to address complex policy and statistical analytical requirements.
- Collaborate closely with data engineering teams to define data requirements, ensure data quality, and integrate secure data sources (e.g., SQL Server, Azure Synapse).
- Define and enforce visualisation standards and governance practises across the Tableau Server/Online environment, including managing user access, licences, and content deployment programmes.
- Provide mentorship and training to junior analysts and business stakeholders on data literacy, Tableau best practises, and effective dashboard consumption.
- Perform rigorous testing and validation of data within Tableau dashboards against source systems to ensure 100% accuracy for government reporting.

- 6+ years of professional experience as a BI/Data Visualization specialist, with at least 3 years operating as a Senior Tableau Developer in an enterprise environment.
- Expert-level proficiency with Tableau Desktop and Tableau Server/Online, including advanced knowledge of data blending, performance optimisation, and administrative tasks.
- Mandatory mastery of Tableau Calculations, specifically Level of Detail (LOD) Expressions, for complex data aggregation.
- Strong proficiency in SQL for writing complex, efficient queries to prepare data sources.
- Proven experience defining and managing governance and access controls (security) within the Tableau Server environment.
- Exceptional ability to tell compelling data stories through effective design, colour, and layout, translating complex analytical findings into clear business communication.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with experience presenting insights to non-technical executive or policy audiences.
