Job Description
ABOUT THE ROLE
We’re looking for a Senior Software Engineer who thrives on ownership, creative problem-solving, and building things that matter. This is an equity-based position on a lean, high-impact team where your contributions directly shape the product and the company’s trajectory.
You’ll work across the full stack of our platform—built on Django, React, Tailwind CSS, and Python—while leveraging and integrating AI tooling to accelerate development and unlock new product capabilities. Evenings and weekends are welcome; what matters is consistent, reliable output of at least 20 hours per week.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Own features end-to-end: architect, build, test, and ship across Django (backend) and React/Tailwind (frontend).
- Dive into an existing codebase with confidence—audit, refactor, and improve code you didn’t write.
- Integrate and build with AI tools and APIs to enhance platform intelligence and developer productivity.
- Debug complex, cross-stack issues quickly and methodically, even under tight deadlines.
- Ideate on new business solutions—translate product challenges into elegant technical approaches.
- Mentor and manage junior engineers: conduct code reviews, pair-program, and raise the bar for the team.
- Rework and stabilize critical code paths when the situation calls for fast, decisive action.
- Collaborate asynchronously with a distributed team to keep momentum across flexible schedules.

- Strong proficiency in Python and Django for backend development (models, views, REST APIs, ORM).
- Strong proficiency in React and modern JavaScript/TypeScript for frontend development.
- Hands-on experience with Tailwind CSS for responsive, utility-first UI design.
- Practical experience using AI-powered developer tools (e.g., Copilot, Claude, ChatGPT, custom LLM integrations).
- Proven ability to inherit, navigate, and improve large or legacy codebases without full context upfront.
- Comfortable with version control (Git), CI/CD pipelines, and modern deployment workflows.
- Experience with cloud deployment and infrastructure on platforms such as AWS, Azure, GCP, or DigitalOcean.
- Familiarity with containerization (Docker) and orchestration tools.
- Ability to customize and extend Stripe billing integrations (subscriptions, invoicing, webhooks, metered usage).
Working Style & Mindset
- Detail-oriented—you catch the edge cases others miss and take pride in clean, well-documented code.
- Creative and resourceful—you find unconventional solutions when the obvious path is blocked.
- Passionate about problem-solving—debugging isn’t a chore, it’s a puzzle you enjoy.
- Calm and effective under pressure—able to rework code in tight, high-stakes situations.
- Experience managing or mentoring junior developers with patience and clear communication.
- Self-directed and reliable—you manage your own time and consistently deliver on commitments.
