Title: Senior Power BI Developer
Location: Fully Remote (Ireland-based candidates preferred)
Travel: Occasional travel
Contract Type: Contract (Initial 6 months, strong likelihood of extension)
Role Overview
We are seeking a Senior Power BI Developer to play a key role in reducing a significant BI backlog and advancing the organisation’s Power BI capability.
This is an end-to-end role requiring expertise beyond visualisation including data modelling, performance optimisation, and working with upstream data. You will act as a technical owner and trusted advisor, contributing to both delivery and strategic direction within a small BI & Digital Transformation team.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and deliver high-quality Power BI reports and dashboards
- Build and maintain efficient, scalable data models
- Write and optimise DAX calculations
- Ensure performance-optimised report design and usability
- Work with upstream data sources to shape and prepare data for reporting
- Collaborate with Data Services teams on data availability and structure
- Take ownership of Power BI platform best practices and standards
- Proactively identify improvements and recommend solutions
- Support backlog reduction through independent, high-quality delivery
- Contribute to governance, deployment, and DevOps practices
- Stay up to date with new Power BI features and capabilities

Core Technical Requirements
Must-Have
- Strong experience with Power BI (end-to-end development)
- Advanced DAX skills
- Solid understanding of data modelling principles
- Experience designing performance-efficient reports
- Ability to work with multiple enterprise data sources
Data & Integration Experience
- SQL Server / Azure SQL
- APIs
- Experience with enterprise systems (e.g., Dynamics, SAP)
- Understanding of data pipelines and data preparation
