What You'll Actually Do

Here's what a typical week looks like:

  • Build and own automation frameworks (Cypress or Playwright) for 2 products spanning AI and payments
  • Write end-to-end, integration, and API test suites that run on every PR nothing merges without your tests passing
  • Test API integrations across payment gateways, AWS services, webhooks, and third-party platforms
  • Automate regression suites that replace manual checklists if it can be automated, you automate it
  • Set up and maintain CI/CD quality gates using GitHub Actions flaky tests get fixed, not skipped
  • Write automated tests for real-time features Pusher notifications, WebSocket events, webhook pipelines
  • Test complex data flows end-to-end from webhook ingestion through analytics to dashboard rendering
  • Perform cross-browser, cross-device, and responsive test automation for merchant-facing dashboards built in Next.js
  • Catch the edge cases no one thought of race conditions in queue processing, timezone mismatches in analytics, S3 permission errors that only surface in production
  • Collaborate with developers to improve testability push for better test hooks, data-testid attributes, and API contracts

If you think automation is just recording clicks and replaying them — this isn't the role.

Must-Have Skills (Non-Negotiable)

Automation Expertise:

  • 4+ years of hands-on test automation experience — you've built frameworks, not just added tests to someone else's
  • Strong proficiency in at least one: Cypress, Playwright, or Selenium (Cypress or Playwright strongly preferred)
  • JavaScript/TypeScript fluency — you write automation code, not copy-paste from Stack Overflow
  • API test automation — you've built automated suites using Postman/Newman, Supertest, or similar tools
  • Experience designing and maintaining Page Object Models, custom commands, and reusable test utilities
  • CI/CD integration — you've configured test suites in GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or similar pipelines
  • Performance testing exposure — JMeter, k6, Artillery, or similar

Technical Understanding:

  • Comfortable reading JavaScript/TypeScript and SQL
  • Understanding of web architecture — REST APIs, WebSockets, queues, caching, CDNs
  • Database validation — you write SQL queries to verify data integrity after complex flows
  • Browser DevTools proficiency — debugging network requests, console errors, performance bottlenecks
  • Git workflow — branching, PRs, merge conflicts are second nature

Process & Communication:

  • You've built automation strategies, not just executed them — framework selection, coverage planning, reporting
  • Experience with Linear, Jira, or similar project management tools
  • Bug reports that are detailed, reproducible, and include environment, steps, expected vs actual, and severity — developers never have to chase you for context

Good-to-Have Skills

  • Experience testing AI/ML features where outputs are non-deterministic (LLM responses, document classification, prediction models)
  • Visual regression testing (Percy, Chromatic, or similar)
  • Experience with ClickHouse, Supabase, or modern data infrastructure
  • Security testing fundamentals (OWASP top 10, authentication flows, input validation)
  • Experience with Cloudflare Workers, serverless architectures, or webhook-based systems
  • Mobile/responsive test automation
  • Familiarity with Make.com, n8n, or automation platforms
  • Contract testing or schema validation for APIs

What We're Looking For (Mindset)

You use AI in your automation workflow. Whether it's generating test data, writing boilerplate test code, debugging flaky tests, or analyzing failure patterns — AI is already part of how you work.

You hate flaky tests more than bugs. A flaky test suite is worse than no test suite. You investigate root causes, add proper waits, isolate test data, and keep the suite reliable.

You automate with purpose. You don't automate everything blindly. You know which flows deserve automation, which need exploratory testing, and where the ROI is highest.

You think in pipelines, not just test files. You understand that your automation suite is infrastructure. It needs to be fast, maintainable, and trusted by the dev team — or it gets ignored.

You push back on shipping broken things. You're not afraid to block a release. A red pipeline means a red pipeline, not "let's skip that test for now."

Perks

  • Fully remote — work from anywhere in India
  • Own automation across 2 products in AI and payments — massive scope
  • Early-stage team — build the automation function from the ground up
  • Access to AI tools (Claude Pro, ChatGPT Plus, Cursor — all covered)
  • Competitive salary based on experience
