The Director of Preconstruction will oversee both Estimating and Business Development, leading a team of 3โ5 direct reports and 20+ indirect reports. This individual will be responsible for aligning preconstruction strategy with operational capacity to achieve annual revenue targets, while bringing a forward-thinking, strategic mindset and the visionary leadership ability to execute and deliver results.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Executive Leadership & Accountability (LMA): Lead and manage Estimating and Business Development teams, driving accountability for performance, aligning departmental goals with company strategy.
- Estimating Execution: Oversee bid strategy, proposal quality, and cost accuracy while continuously improving estimating systems while leveraging historical data.
- Business Development & Revenue Growth: Direct pursuit strategy identifying target clients, strengthening relationships, and driving new business to meet and exceed annual revenue targets.
- Cross-Functional Alignment: Lead coordination between Estimating, Operations, and Finance to ensure pricing reflects true cost, risk, and operational capacity, supporting successful project execution.
- Pipeline & Forecasting: Maintain visibility into bid volume, win rates, and backlog, providing accurate forecasting and regular reporting to C-suite.
- Training & Development: Forecast workload and resource needs while developing the next generation of Estimating and Business Development professionals through structured training and mentorship.

REQUIREMENTS:
- Experience: 10+ years as a Project Executive, Division Manager, Chief Estimator, or Business Development Director in heavy civil or commercial GC. Hands-on knowledge of concrete, bridges, earthwork, and federal infrastructure. DOD, DOE, or secured/classified facilities experience strongly preferred
- Leadership: Proven track record leading Estimating and/or Business Development teams generating $300Mil+ in revenue
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related preferred
- Technology: Experienced with EOS or a similar and HCSS HeavyBid
Compensation: $250k-$275k salary + lucrative bonus with ability to โcreate your own destiny
