  • Continuing, full-time
  • $128,052 to $ 137,444 per annum (HEO9) + 17% super
  • Salary packaging options available
  • Generous leave entitlements including Christmas shutdown, parental, cultural, gender affirmation & domestic violence
  • 5 weeks annual leave + Christmas shutdown leave

About the role

The Building Design and Space Manager (BDSM) is pivotal in shaping UNE's physical landscape and supporting its overarching strategic goals. The BDSM drives strategic asset initiatives and oversees critical space management processes, ensuring our campus environment fosters learning, research, and community engagement. This includes leading significant projects, contributing to the Campus Development Plan, implementing UNE Design Standards, and playing an instrumental role in the digital storage and management of information for all university facilities.

The BDSM is a key specialist contributor to capital development and strategic decision-making, offering a unique opportunity to leave a lasting impact on the future of the University of New England.


About you

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Senior level experience in facilities space management, building design, and strategic estate planning, supported by relevant postgraduate qualifications or equivalent expertise.
  • The ability to analyse complex stakeholder needs and deliver data-informed, innovative infrastructure solutions that align with strategic university objectives.
  • Advanced technical proficiency in Autodesk CAD software (including AutoCAD, Civil3D, and Revit) for producing and reviewing technical drawings.
  • Capacity to drive high-level collaboration, achieve strategic and operational goals across diverse teams, and thrive in a dynamic, deadline-driven environment.
  • A proactive and adaptable approach to leveraging AI and digital technologies to enhance efficiency and strategic decision-making in the workplace.


About the Faculty/School/Department

The Estate and Built Environment (EBE) Directorate is responsible for the planning, development, management, and maintenance of UNE’s buildings, infrastructure, grounds, and facilities across all campuses. The Directorate ensures UNE’s physical environment supports the University’s strategic goals, delivering safe, sustainable, and innovative spaces for learning, research, and community engagement.
