Overview:

This role serves as the editorial lead for a growing deep tech company's social presence across corporate brand and executive channels, with a primary focus on X and LinkedIn. The ideal candidate is a seasoned, independent operator who understands how to build credibility and brand authority in complex, regulated, and technically serious industries. This position requires confident, real-time editorial judgment and a strong point of view.

Summary:

The Social Media and Digital Strategy Manager will shape how a high-profile deep tech company and its leadership show up publicly in conversations spanning nuclear innovation, space power, maritime, energy, and defense. This is not a traditional content calendar role — it demands someone who can take smart risks, engage authentically in industry discourse, and translate dense technical subject matter into compelling narratives. The right candidate has already operated independently, made editorial judgment calls in public-facing environments, and knows how to push boundaries without undermining trust or credibility in a regulated, safety-critical context.

Key Responsibilities:

• Own end-to-end social media strategy for the corporate brand, with primary focus on X and LinkedIn.

• Develop and protect a distinctive brand voice that is confident, technically grounded, and willing to take a clear point of view.

• Establish the company as a visible, credible participant in conversations across nuclear innovation, space power, maritime, energy, and defense sectors.

• Make independent, real-time editorial decisions about when to engage, when to lead with opinion, and when restraint is the strategically sound choice.

• Balance speed, clarity, and boldness with the realities of operating in a regulated, safety-critical environment.

• Create high-quality social content including short-form copy, graphics, and simple visual assets that translate complex technical ideas into compelling narratives.

• Partner with an in-house production team to strategically deploy video and photography for maximum impact.

• Maintain a high bar for taste, clarity, and consistency across all published content.

• Own day-to-day posting and active community engagement, particularly on X, with a strong sense of timing and tone.

• Monitor conversations across relevant industry ecosystems to identify moments for authentic, value-adding participation.

• Engage thoughtfully with industry communities — including moments of skepticism or disagreement — without escalating risk or diluting brand credibility.

• Own social strategy and execution for company executives on X and LinkedIn, including ghostwriting, publishing cadence, content review, and approvals.

• Mine speeches, interviews, podcasts, presentations, and internal discussions to surface strong executive points of view for publication.

• Proactively surface news, trends, and relevant activity where executive commentary would be additive or clarifying.

• Identify, vet, and build relationships with relevant influencers, subject matter experts, and key opinion leaders in aerospace, maritime, defense, energy, and deep tech.

• Develop influencer and ecosystem collaboration strategies that extend reach while preserving credibility and editorial integrity.

• Partner closely with the Communications function to support launches, partnerships, events, and major announcements.

• Contribute to the company's email newsletter, including content development and performance analysis.

• Support basic website content updates and collaborate on SEO initiatives to improve organic visibility.

Qualifications:

• 5–8+ years of experience owning social media programs end-to-end for B2B technology companies, startups, or organizations operating in complex, high-stakes environments.

• Direct experience working in regulated, technical, or reputationally sensitive industries such as energy, nuclear, defense, aerospace, fintech, or healthcare.

• Experience managing both a corporate brand account and multiple executive social profiles simultaneously, including strategy, ghostwriting, publishing cadence, and approvals.

• Deep fluency in X and LinkedIn, including platform culture, audience expectations, and algorithmic behavior.

• Demonstrated experience ghostwriting for executives or managing executive personal brands.

• Proven ability to translate dense technical or scientific concepts into clear, engaging narratives without oversimplifying.

• Strong editorial taste and point of view, with examples of confident, distinctive brand or executive presence in serious industries.

• Comfort operating with significant autonomy and making real-time editorial and engagement decisions independently.

Nice to Have:

• Experience in or familiarity with nuclear energy, space technology, defense, or maritime industries specifically.

• Background supporting thought leadership content for founders or C-suite executives at high-growth startups.

• Experience contributing to or managing email newsletters and basic SEO initiatives.

• Existing relationships within aerospace, defense, energy, or deep tech media and influencer ecosystems.
