Job Description
Freelance Senior ML / Software Architect โ PropTech
Remote-First within DACH / Europe | Start mid-May
๐ About the Role
Architect a novel computer vision pipeline โ from blank canvas to production โ for a stealth-mode real estate tech startup.
Architect a novel computer vision pipeline โ from blank canvas to production โ for a stealth-mode real estate tech startup building something that hasn't been built before.
A PropTech startup operating in the DACH region is tackling a genuinely unsolved problem at the intersection of computer vision, architectural data, and 3D reconstruction.
The technical challenge: automatically processing high-quality technical drawings โ architectural schematics, engineering blueprints โ using computer vision. This is a greenfield build
๐ ๏ธ What Youโll Do
- Architect the CV Pipeline End-to-End: Design and build a novel computer vision system capable of processing architectural and engineering drawings โ classification, segmentation, multi-class recognition, and cross-drawing relationship modelling.
- Lead 3D Reconstruction Integration: Define how CV outputs feed into a downstream 3D model reconstruction pipeline, owning the interface design and data flow between stages.
- Act as Technical Co-Lead: Work directly with the founder as a close architectural partner and sounding board. High trust, high autonomy โ you shape the decisions, not just implement them.
- Own Stack and Tooling Decisions: Drive Python-based pipeline architecture with an eye toward future Rust deployment. Make defensible technology choices with long-term scalability in mind.

โ What you bring
- Deep hands-on experience with image segmentation, object detection, and multi-class classification โ ideally on complex, non-standard visual inputs (technical drawings, schematics, or similar)
- Track record designing and shipping production-grade ML pipelines end-to-end โ not just notebooks
- Strong Python fluency across the ML stack: PyTorch or JAX, relevant CV libraries, data pipeline tooling
- Comfortable making high-stakes architectural decisions with incomplete information in an early-stage environment
- Ideally German speaking and fluent in English

๐ Valued
- Experience with technical document understanding (CAD, BIM, blueprint parsing)
- Background in 3D reconstruction, point clouds, or related spatial ML
- Familiarity with Rust, or genuine interest in owning the deployment layer down the line
- Prior experience as a founding engineer or early technical hire
- PropTech, AEC (Architecture, Engineering, Construction), or geospatial background
๐ฏ Location and Start
This is a fully remote role, ideally based in the DACH region or a compatible time zone. The start date is mid or end of May.
We welcome applications regardless of gender, background, age, religion, sexual orientation, or disability.
