About Switch

At Switch, we don’t just design, build and operate data centers—we are enabling the technology of the future. Led by Founder & CEO, Rob Roy, we believe in revolutionary innovation, operational excellence and the principle of karma. Switch is where talented people come together to EVOLVE the digital world.

We believe that innovation isn’t just about technology—it’s about the people, culture, and purpose that make it happen. Every Switch team member contributes to a mission greater than themselves: to create the world’s most advanced digital infrastructure that powers the progress of humanity.

The Role: Systems Engineer, AI & Hyperscale Platforms

As a Systems Engineer, you will define and model complex hyperscale platforms that support both AI/ML and traditional workloads. This role exists to bring structure, clarity, and traceability to system architecture across large-scale infrastructure environments.

You will apply Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) practices to define system boundaries, interfaces, and performance characteristics. Your work directly supports scalable platform design and alignment across hardware, software, and infrastructure teams.

What You’ll Do

  • Develop and maintain system models using MBSE methodologies (SysML/UML)
  • Define system architectures, interfaces, and boundaries across compute, storage, and networking domains
  • Translate business and technical requirements into structured system models and specifications
  • Perform trade studies evaluating performance, scalability, and cost across AI and traditional workloads
  • Ensure traceability between requirements, architecture, and validation
  • Partner with hardware, software, and infrastructure teams to align system design
  • Support documentation of system behavior, dependencies, and constraints
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of modeling practices and standards

What We’re Looking For

  • You think in systems and can abstract complex environments into structured models
  • You communicate technical concepts clearly across teams
  • You apply structured methodologies to ambiguous problems
  • You balance technical detail with practical implementation
  • You collaborate effectively across engineering disciplines
  • You take ownership of modeling outputs and follow through to completion

What You’ll Bring

Required

  • 3+ years of experience in systems engineering with a focus on MBSE
  • Hands-on experience with SysML/UML and MBSE tools (e.g., Cameo, MagicDraw, Capella, Rhapsody)
  • Experience modeling complex, distributed, or large-scale systems
  • Familiarity with AI/ML workloads and traditional enterprise or cloud workloads
  • Strong understanding of system architecture and design principles
  • Ability to communicate system models and design decisions clearly

Preferred

  • Experience in hyperscale or cloud infrastructure environments
  • Exposure to GPUs, accelerators, and high-performance networking
  • Experience with requirements management tools
  • Background in performance modeling or capacity planning

We encourage you to apply even if you do not meet every preferred qualification.
