About the Job

The Cloud Architect Lead is a customer-facing senior technical role. This role will work directly with Technology Leadership and the Engineering team to provide technical leadership amongst other architects & engineers, oversee engagements, and conduct independent delivery of Azure infrastructure, application, data, and AI engagements.

What You’ll Do

  • Leverage industry standard tools (Azure Migrate, RVTools, AzGovViz, amongst others) to perform analysis on existing on-premises, Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud, and other systems to make and implement recommendations for operational efficiency, security & governance, and high availability across enterprise-wide, global application ecosystems.
  • Independently host workshops and solution design sessions to upskill, educate, and define requirements for architecture and project engineering efforts.
  • Lead the backlogging, effort estimation, and solutioning of project work to deliver engagements and engineering efforts in migration and modernization projects.
  • Leverage the Cloud Adoption Framework (CAF) and Well-Architected Framework (WAF) to ensure that solution architectures and migration processes are designed in alignment with Microsoft best practices & industry standards.
  • Leverage infrastructure-as-code (Bicep, Terraform) and automated processes (Azure DevOps YAML pipelines) to implement solutions reliably and repeatedly.
  • Demonstrate deep technical experience in end-to-end lift-and-shift migration processes utilizing tools such as Azure Migrate, Azure Site Recovery, Data Migration Service, and Azure VMware Solution.
  • Demonstrate deep technical experience in application platform services to help replatform workloads on-premises into cloud-native designs using application, data, and containerized services.
  • Demonstrate deep technical experience in cloud networking, routing, and hybrid connectivity to design, implement, and troubleshoot at an enterprise level.
  • Define and clearly communicate requirements to external stakeholders and internal project teams to manage expectations and timelines associated with project deliverables.
  • Author robust diagrams and written technical documentation for project efforts.
  • Work across a team of other independent engineers or architects (this is not a management position) to provide technical architecture guidance, remove roadblocks, and outline paths forward in complex engagements. This role will have utilization relief (50-75% billable maximum) to allow prioritization of team support activities.

Experience

  • At least 5-7 years of experience with Azure cloud platform supporting infrastructure deployments, network deployments, and infrastructure-as-code (Bicep, Terraform) or systems scripting (PowerShell, Bash). Candidates without Azure experience should not apply.
  • At least 5-7 years of experience in Systems Administration (or comparable experience) such as Windows Server administration, Linux systems administration, database administration (SQL, PostgreSQL, MySQL).
  • At least 3 years of experience in Network Administration (or comparable experience) such as Firewall management, Routing, Switching, and Cloud-native connectivity (ExpressRoute, Site to Site VPN tunnels, Load Balancing, etc.)
  • Understanding of high availability and disaster recovery principles, patterns, and applications.
  • Experience supporting Production applications or workloads, being able to perform test and troubleshoot related issues.
  • Experience in a consultative role or an engineering role working with more than one client environment at any given time is required. Experiences without professional services consulting experience should not apply.
  • Experience modernizing, refactoring and/or deploying enterprise applications.
  • Experience in architecting & designing enterprise Data (Databases, Synapse, Fabric) or AI solutions (Foundry, Document Intelligence, etc.) is a plus, but not required.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Business, Software Engineering, or Information Technology preferred, but not required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

The base salary range for this role is $180,000 - $210,000 depending on experience.
