Job Description

Senior Product Designer

Hybrid| Full-Time | Relocation Available

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Take an idea. Build it. Bring it to life.

At POLYWOOD, design is not just about how something looks. It is about how it performs, how it’s built, and how it lasts.

We are looking for a Senior Product Designer who can own the full journey, from concept to production, and do it with both creativity and technical depth.

------------------------------------------

About Us

POLYWOOD creates sustainable outdoor furniture and products designed to last for generations.

What makes this role different is the material and the moment.

We are pushing the limits of what recycled materials can do, both mechanically and aesthetically. At the same time, we are expanding rapidly into new categories, from action seating to outdoor kitchens and structures.

This is an opportunity to help define what outdoor living looks like next.

------------------------------------------

The Work You’ll Love Doing

This is a role for someone who thrives in the space between design and engineering.

You will take ideas and turn them into real, manufacturable products. You will model, test, refine, and collaborate with teams across engineering, production, and sourcing to ensure every product is built the right way.

You won’t be handed step-by-step direction. You will be trusted to run with projects, solve problems, and deliver results.

And you will see your work come to life, not just on a screen, but on the production floor and in customers’ homes.

------------------------------------------

What Makes This Role Special

  • You own the full design lifecycle, not just pieces of it
  • You work with a material that is still being innovated
  • You help expand into entirely new product categories
  • You collaborate with teams who build what you design
  • You see your work come to life in the real world
  • You are joining POLYWOOD at a moment of real momentum, rapid growth, expanding categories, and a clear investment in innovation that is shaping what outdoor living looks like next

------------------------------------------

Where You Will Make an Impact

  • Owning product design from concept through production
  • Designing with intention, balancing form, function, and manufacturability
  • Using CAD (SolidWorks preferred) to bring ideas to life
  • Collaborating with Engineering, Production, and Purchasing teams
  • Expanding product categories into outdoor living spaces beyond furniture
  • Mentoring junior designers and elevating team capability
  • Supporting products that meet the expectations of national retail partners

------------------------------------------

What You Bring

  • You bring several years of design experience, ideally within an in-house team or consumer-focused brand, along with a portfolio that reflects thoughtful, high-impact work across brand, campaigns, and digital channels.
  • You are a designer who understands how things are made.
  • You have strong CAD experience, a deep understanding of materials, and the ability to design products that work in the real world.
  • You are comfortable owning projects independently, while also collaborating across teams to get the best outcome.
  • You care about design, but you also care about durability, performance, and execution.

------------------------------------------

What Will Make You Stand Out

  • Experience designing with HDPE or similar materials
  • Background in metal fabrication or aluminum product design
  • Experience working with branded consumer products
  • Experience supporting national retail or “big box” customers
  • Familiarity with outdoor products or durable goods

If you bring even a few of these, you will step into this role with a strong foundation and the ability to make an immediate impact.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If you are looking for a role where design meets execution, and ideas turn into real products, we would love to connect.
