GCP Cloud Consultant - Platform & AI Engineering
Fully Remote (UK Only)
A specialist cloud engineering consultancy is supporting a major global logistics organisation through a large-scale transformation programme, migrating core enterprise platforms from Microsoft Azure to Google Cloud Platform (GCP). As part of this programme, the consultancy is expanding its permanent engineering capability and is seeking a GCP-focused Consultant or Senior Consultant to join its cloud platform team.
This is a hands-on engineering role within a high-performing delivery environment, with strong emphasis on GCP platform engineering, infrastructure automation, and AI/ML enablement using Vertex AI.
The Opportunity
The successful candidate will join a specialist cloud engineering team responsible for designing, building, and operating modern cloud-native platforms on GCP. You will work closely with senior engineers and architects to deliver scalable, secure, and production-grade cloud solutions as part of a major enterprise migration programme.
This role is ideal for someone with solid GCP experience who is looking to deepen their expertise in platform engineering, Kubernetes, Terraform, and AI/ML workloads.
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to the design and delivery of a large-scale Azure to GCP migration programme
- Build and operate cloud-native platforms using GCP services (GKE, BigQuery, Pub/Sub, Cloud Storage, etc.)
- Develop Infrastructure-as-Code solutions using Terraform
- Support CI/CD pipeline development and automation practices
- Work with Kubernetes-based workloads, primarily on GKE
- Support the implementation of AI/ML solutions using Vertex AI and related GCP services
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including cloud, data, security, and application engineers
- Contribute to best practices across cloud security, scalability, reliability, and cost optimisation

Required Skills & Experience
- Minimum 3+ years hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) – essential
- Practical experience with Vertex AI or other GCP AI/ML services – essential
- Strong experience with Terraform and infrastructure-as-code practices
- Good understanding of Kubernetes and containerised environments (preferably GKE)
- Experience in cloud engineering, DevOps, or platform engineering roles
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and automation tooling
- Experience working in enterprise-scale or consultancy environments
- Strong engineering mindset with ability to work across platform, data, and application layers
Desirable Experience
- Exposure to Microsoft Azure in hybrid or migration environments
- Experience working on cloud migration programmes
- Knowledge of data platforms such as BigQuery or similar
- Interest in AI/ML, MLOps, or data engineering practices
- Experience working in regulated or large-scale enterprise environments
