MCS Group is exclusively supporting a fast-growing, well-established technology company in Northern Ireland in their search for a Senior Data Engineer. Our client is expanding its Data Engineering team and is looking for an experienced Data Engineer to help shape the next phase of its data capabilities.

The Senior Data Engineer will play a key role in designing and developing reliable data pipelines and services that support business intelligence, analytics, and next-generation AI capabilities. What you'll be doing
- The Data Engineer will design and develop data APIs, semantic layers, and curated datasets that enable analytics, reporting, and AI applications
- You'll build and maintain scalable data pipelines that support both internal insights and customer-facing product capabilities
- You'll work closely with Product Managers and engineering teams to turn business requirements into reliable, scalable data solutions
- Structure and model complex engineering and simulation data for analytics, machine learning, and product integrations
- Collaborate with data, AI, BI, and software engineering teams to deliver production-grade data capabilities
- Partner with QA and business stakeholders to ensure data solutions are well-tested, reliable, and aligned with real user needs
- Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure-as-code, and DevOps practices supporting data services
- Maintain high standards of data quality, integrity, and performance across pipelines and platforms
- Evaluate and introduce new tools, frameworks, and architectural approaches to improve the platform over time.

What we're looking for
- Strong hands-on experience in data engineering or backend software engineering
- Significant experience working with AWS
- High proficiency with Python and SQL
- Practical experience with data orchestration and ETL/ELT tooling such as Airflow, dbt, Airbyte, Temporal, Fivetran, or similar
- Solid understanding of data quality practices, including validation, testing, and monitoring of pipelines
- Strong experience in data warehouse design and modern data architecture patterns (e.g. Medallion, Data Mesh, or similar)
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work across both technical and non-technical teams
