Job Description

Client Manager

£40,000 - £45,000

About Us

H&C Accounting is an ACCA-registered accountancy and tax consultancy delivering high-quality

accounting, tax, payroll, and advisory services to a growing and diverse client base.

In just 6 years, we’ve built a portfolio of over 1,100 clients—nearly half through referrals. Recent

acquisitions of a smaller practice and a payroll bureau have accelerated our growth even further.

Our client base is a mix of startups and small businesses, supported through monthly fixed-fee packages and project-based work. Alongside our core compliance services—accounts, VAT, payroll, and personal tax—we’re increasingly delivering bespoke advisory solutions to growing businesses.

This is a key focus area for our future.

We’re a fully remote, UK-based team that values accuracy, honesty, and strong client relationships. We collaborate closely, support each other, and meet quarterly to align, plan, and socialise.

We’re continuously improving our systems and processes as we scale—this is where you come in.

The Role

As a Client Manager you’ll take ownership of a portfolio of clients, including limited companies and

personal tax clients across both recurring and project-based engagements. You’ll build strong

relationships and provide proactive, high-quality support, with regular contact with approximately 50

clients.

This is a hands-on senior role where you will:

• Review annual accounts and corporation tax returns

• Prepare VAT returns and MTD ITSA submissions

• Prepare personal tax returns and deliver tax planning advice

• Support more complex client needs such as management accounts, forecasting, and advisory work

• Allocate and review work, acting as an escalation point when needed

We have a team in place to support with bookkeeping and most accounts preparation work, allowing you to focus on coordinating, reviewing, advising, and managing client relationships.

You’ll also get involved in ad-hoc advisory projects, such as business structuring, capital gains tax, inheritance tax planning, forecasting, and strategic support.

The Team and TechYou’ll be supported by a team of 5 qualified or part-qualified accountants, 2 operations coordinators, and a dedicated payroll team.

Our tech stack includes Bright Manager for practice management, TaxCalc for accounts and tax

compliance, and Xero as our primary bookkeeping platform, although we support all modern cloud

software.

We actively embrace automation and process improvement, and you’ll play a key role in shaping how we work as we grow.

What We’re Looking For

• ACCA or ICAEW qualified

• 3 years practice experience

• Proven experience managing your own client portfolio

• Confident across both compliance and advisory work

We’re particularly interested in hearing about how you’ve managed a client portfolio, handled di[icult

client situations, supported or coached team members, and introduced improvements to processes or

systems.

You should be comfortable using modern accounting software such as Xero, QuickBooks, or FreeAgent.

Experience with Bright Manager or TaxCalc would be beneficial but is not essential.

Why Join Us

We’re a fast-growing, ambitious practice where you’ll have real opportunity to progress into a more senior leadership role over time.

You’ll work with a high-quality and varied client base, and have the ability to influence systems,

processes, and how we scale.

Benefits

• Fully remote UK working (with an expectation to attend quarterly meet-ups focused on team development, business strategy, and innovation)

• Flexible working schedule

• £1,000 home o[ice equipment budget

• Quarterly company socials

• Health cover

• Company pension

• 20 days holiday plus bank holidays, with 5 days carry over
