Job Description

We’re excited to be partnering with a global engineering and technology business to support the growth of a brand-new data science team within their R&D function. This is a great opportunity to join at an early stage and help shape how data and machine learning are used to deliver real value to customers.

As a Data Scientist, you’ll join a newly formed scrum team alongside Data Engineers and DevOps specialists, working end-to-end from model development through to production deployment.

What you’ll be doing

  • Developing machine learning models using large, complex datasets to generate accurate predictive insights
  • Building and refining automated training pipelines that continuously improve model performance
  • Working closely with engineers and domain experts to translate data into practical solutions
  • Communicating findings clearly to a range of stakeholders, both technical and non-technical
  • Contributing to code reviews and helping establish best practices within the team
  • Keeping up to date with emerging tools, techniques, and trends in data science

What skills you'll bring

  • A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Physical Sciences, or another highly quantitative field
  • Around 5+ years’ experience in a data science role, with a strong focus on machine learning
  • Strong programming skills (Python, R, Scala, MATLAB or similar)
  • Experience working with version control systems (e.g. Git)
  • Exposure to cloud platforms and containerisation would be advantageous
  • Strong communication skills in English; additional languages are a plus

Why this role stands out

  • You’ll be working on genuinely impactful problems with clear real-world applications
  • You’ll play a key role in shaping a new, high-visibility data capability
  • You’ll build systems that evolve and improve over time—not just one-off models
  • You’ll have the opportunity to influence both technical direction and business outcomes
  • Fully remote role, based anywhere in the UK or Europe
  • Occasional international travel to customer sites
