Social Media Manager and Content Creator (m/f/d)
fulltime, 40 hours per week, contract of 1.5 years (parental leave replacement)
As Social Media Manager and Content Creator, you are comfortable experimenting with formats, leveraging AI tools in day-to-day work, and contributing to meaningful, accurate, and responsible science communication in an international research environment.
At CeMM, you will operate at the forefront of biomedical research and help communicate discoveries that aim to improve human health. As part of our PR & communications team, you will combine creativity, scientific curiosity, and digital expertise, using modern formats and AI-enabled workflows to produce impactful content and shape how our research is shared with the public.
Your role
- Manage and further develop CeMM’s social media presence (e.g. LinkedIn, Instagram, X, Bluesky, FB, YouTube) via Social Media Management tool.
- Plan, create and publish high-quality, audience-oriented content (video und visual content production) to communicate scientific topics in an accessible way
- Work closely with scientists to translate complex research into compelling narratives for non-specialist audiences
- Contribute to editorial planning and ensure consistent messaging across platforms
- Apply and explore AI-based tools for content creation, editing, and communication workflows
- Maintain and update CeMM’s website, intranet, and other communication channels
- Monitor performance metrics and optimize content based on data-driven insights
- Support internal communication and institutional storytelling

Your profile
- Master’s degree in communications, media, life sciences, or a related field
- Proven experience in science communication and social media management for research institutions, academic organizations or a strongly related field
- Strong practical skills in content creation, including:
- video production (filming, editing)
- photography
- graphic design for visual storytelling
- Confident use of social media platforms and formats, with a good understanding of current trends and audience engagement
- Experience with AI tools for content creation or communication is an advantage
- Excellent written and spoken English; good German skills are beneficial
- Hands-on, proactive working style with strong organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
- Interest in biomedical research and motivation to communicate science responsibly and accurately

The mission of CeMM, the Research Center for Molecular Medicine of the Austrian Academy of Sciences is to achieve maximum scientific innovation in molecular medicine to improve healthcare.
