Job Description

This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Senior Machine Learning Engineer - Camera Model in Canada.

This role focuses on building advanced computer vision systems that form a core part of an autonomous driving stack for next-generation freight transportation. You will design and deploy deep learning models that enable vehicles to perceive and interpret complex real-world environments using camera data. Working at the intersection of machine learning, robotics, and large-scale production systems, you will contribute to the safety and reliability of autonomous trucks operating in diverse and challenging driving conditions. The position offers strong ownership across the full ML lifecycle, from data preparation and model design to deployment and continuous improvement. You will collaborate closely with perception, data, and simulation teams to ensure models perform robustly in real-world scenarios. This is a high-impact role suited for engineers who enjoy solving applied ML problems with direct real-world impact in autonomous systems.

Accountabilities

  • Design, develop, and deploy deep learning models for camera-based perception tasks such as object detection, segmentation, depth estimation, and scene understanding.
  • Own end-to-end machine learning workflows, including data curation, model training, evaluation, and production deployment.
  • Build and maintain scalable, production-quality ML pipelines supporting training, inference, and experimentation at scale.
  • Analyze model performance across varied driving conditions, identify failure cases, and improve robustness and generalization.
  • Collaborate with data teams to enhance dataset quality, labeling strategies, and coverage of edge and rare scenarios.
  • Work closely with perception, simulation, and validation teams to integrate models into the broader autonomy stack.
  • Contribute to improvements in training infrastructure, tooling, and workflows to accelerate iteration cycles.
  • Participate in technical design discussions and support architecture decisions for perception models.
  • Mentor junior engineers and support best practices in model development, debugging, and deployment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, Machine Learning, or related field with 6+ years of experience, or Master’s with 3+ years, or PhD with 1+ year.
  • Strong experience building and deploying deep learning models for computer vision or perception systems.
  • Advanced programming skills in Python and strong proficiency in PyTorch for production-level ML development.
  • Experience working with large-scale datasets and distributed training environments.
  • Solid understanding of modern deep learning architectures such as CNNs, transformers, and multi-task learning models.
  • Experience analyzing model behavior, debugging performance issues, and improving reliability in production systems.
  • Ability to translate ambiguous problems into structured machine learning solutions and deliver independently.
  • Experience collaborating across engineering teams to integrate ML systems into larger robotics or autonomy stacks.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work in cross-functional, fast-paced environments.
  • Bonus: experience in autonomous driving, robotics, 3D perception, BEV modeling, or large-scale ML pipelines.

Benefits

  • Competitive compensation package including base salary, performance-based bonus, and stock options.
  • Comprehensive health coverage including medical, dental, and vision insurance.
  • RRSP retirement plan with employer matching contribution.
  • Flexible hybrid or remote work arrangements depending on location.
  • Generous paid time off and company-wide holiday closures.
  • Life insurance coverage.
  • Support for relocation and sign-on bonuses where applicable.
  • Collaborative, inclusive, and innovation-driven engineering culture.
  • Opportunity to work on cutting-edge autonomous vehicle technology with real-world impact.
