Senior Ruby Engineer (Remote – EST or CST Preferred)

We’re looking for a Senior Ruby Engineer to join a fast-growing, product-focused technology company building modern enterprise software used daily by customers across the U.S. This is a highly collaborative, backend-focused engineering role with opportunities to contribute across the full stack in a fast-moving environment.
The ideal candidate has strong backend engineering experience with Ruby on Rails, PostgreSQL, SQL, and scalable database-driven systems, while also being comfortable contributing to frontend development using React and modern JavaScript frameworks.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Design, build, and maintain scalable backend services and APIs using Ruby on Rails
- Work heavily with PostgreSQL, SQL optimization, relational database design, and data modeling
- Contribute to architecture discussions and long-term technical strategy
- Develop and support event-driven and asynchronous workflows
- Partner closely with product, design, and engineering teams to deliver high-impact features
- Help improve platform reliability, scalability, and overall system performance
- Participate in debugging, troubleshooting, and production issue resolution
- Contribute to frontend development using React and modern JavaScript when needed
- Conduct code reviews and help drive engineering best practices across the team

What We’re Looking For
- 6+ years of software engineering experience
- Strong backend development experience with Ruby on Rails
- Deep understanding of PostgreSQL, SQL queries, relational databases, and performance tuning
- Experience designing scalable APIs and backend systems
- Solid frontend experience with React and modern JavaScript
- Experience with testing frameworks such as RSpec, Cypress, Vitest, or similar
- Familiarity with asynchronous processing and distributed systems concepts
- Comfortable working in Agile, collaborative engineering environments
- Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally
