The Opportunity
Senior Electrical Engineer (P.Eng)
The Senior Electrical Engineer is a key contributor at Setplan Engineering, as a small firm this role is an opportunity to be responsible for delivering electrical engineering services across a range of new-build, renovation, and tenant improvement projects, spanning sectors from health care and education to mining and industrial. Key Responsibilities
- Project Leadership: Own and drive end-to-end engineering services on assigned projects, including triage, planning and scope, fees, execution, and delivery of services.
- Technical Capabilities: Perform assessments, design services, and construction supervision of projects.
- Cross-Functional Coordination: Collaborate with team members, clients, and construction professionals to ensure alignment and timely execution.
- Budget & Resource Management: Monitor project budgets, resource allocation, deadlines and deliverables.
- Administration & Communication: Participate in training and business development activities.
- Documentation & Compliance: Write professional proposals, and reports including project documentation, regulatory requirements, and ensure quality standards are met.
- Mentorship and Collaboration: Provide guidance, oversight and feedback to colleagues and junior team members.
- Process Improvement: Identify and implement best practices to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
Experience & Qualifications Preferred

- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering.
- Professional Engineer registrant, with a Canadian Engineering Association (Engineers Canada), eligible for registration in Yukon, BC, NWT/Nunavut.
- 7+ years experience as a professional electrical engineer, working in a design and construction administration capacity with progressive responsibility.
- Experience leading projects in building (new construction/renovations) electrical engineering.
- Valid drivers license & clean drivers abstract.
- Experience working remotely (if applying to work outside Whitehorse)
- Knowledge and application of standards:
- Canadian Electrical Code.
- National/BC Building Codes.
- ULC Standards.
- National Fire Code.
- Experience and proficiency in the following software:
- AutoCAD.
- AGI32 or equivalent.
- MS Office Suite.
- Bluebeam.
- Cloud based software for accounting, project management, proposals and CRM.
- Experience with REVIT, ETAP or EASYPOWER would be considered an asset.

Reporting to the Principal (Senior P.Eng.), the Senior Electrical Engineer contributes to the growth of the organization by assisting with the development of internal standards, participating in training, and supporting business development efforts.
Compensation and Search Process
Setplan Engineering is based in Whitehorse, YT. This role could be remote, hybrid or in office (as of posting, there are regular direct flights from Whitehorse to Victoria, Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton and Kelowna). Local candidates in Whitehorse, YK, BC and AB will be prioritized.
Compensation is competitive with an anticipated salary range of $130,000 - 160,000, with benefits (including up to 6 weeks PTO and relocation assistance available). Applicants must be legally eligible to work in Canada and consent to a criminal background check. Some travel to job sites may be required, generally around the Whitehorse and Victoria areas. Ideal applicants must be fit and capable of working on/around construction sites. Applicants who cannot meet these physical requirements are still encouraged to apply.
The search process will include search consultant interviews, committee interview and technical assessment. An on site interview, including trip to Whitehorse, may be offered to final candidate(s).
