About The Role

We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented HR Manager to join our team while our current Manager goes on maternity leave for ~ 12 months.

This role is ideal for an HR professional ready to take the next step in their career. You’ll work closely with leadership and employees across Canada & US to support core HR & Payroll functions including employee relations, compliance, performance management, recruitment, policy development, HR operations and fully managing semi-monthly payroll & processes.

The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment, demonstrate exceptional organizational skills and serve as a trusted advisor to leadership and employees.

Key Responsibilities

Payroll & Benefits Administration

Process full cycle payroll for employees based in Canada & US including ROEs, T4s.

Ensuring our semi-monthly payroll is processed accurately and on time.

Manage all our benefit programs including health, dental, retirement plans, HSA/LSA, professional development, leave management, etc.

Act as a point of contact for both benefits providers and employees

Employee Relations

Act as a point of contact for employee questions and concerns, escalating issues when appropriate

Effectively plan, design, develop and evaluate key employee engagement initiatives and internal communications that support organizational strategic goals

Guide and assist in conflict resolution and help promote a positive and inclusive work environment

Independently manage and guide leaders on change management initiatives and reduction in force process.

Performance & Development

Lead performance review cycles and maintain documentation

Assist with learning & development initiatives and training logistics

Contribute to the development of career pathing and internal mobility programs

HR Operations & Compliance

Monitor HR metrics and provide insights to leadership to support decision-making

Maintain accurate employee records and HRIS data

Implementation and ongoing management of company policies and procedures

Maintain and regularly update employee handbook

Ensure compliance with internal policies and employment laws and regulations

Recruitment & Onboarding

Manage full-cycle recruitment, including job postings, screenings, interviews, and offers

Manage onboarding processes to ensure a smooth and welcoming new hire experience

Collaborate with hiring managers to understand workforce needs and optimize recruitment strategies

Manage documentation and engagement of independent contractors.

Requirements

What we are looking for:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field
  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience as an HR Generalist with experience working in a stand alone role including experience with processing full cycle payroll, ideally within a small to mid-sized company
  • Familiarity with HRIS & Payroll systems (e.g., Rippling, CollageHR, BambooHR, ADP, or similar)
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and problem-solving abilities
  • Knowledge of employment laws across all Canadian provinces and HR best practices

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a fast-paced, high-growth environment
  • HR certification (e.g., CHRP/CHRL, SHRM-CP, PHR) is a plus
