About The Role

As a Software Developer at Starapple, you will join a small, dedicated development team working on diverse client projects within an agile framework. Your role involves participating in two-week Scrum sprints, where you will be responsible for developing, testing, and maintaining custom WordPress solutions, including plugins and integrations. You will have the opportunity to take on significant responsibilities early on, contributing to project planning and implementing sustainable, innovative solutions. The team operates with a results-oriented mindset, emphasizing quality and collaborative problem-solving. Working remotely, you will communicate primarily via Slack and participate in daily stand-up meetings to ensure alignment and progress. The role offers flexibility in working hours, allowing you to balance work and personal life effectively, while still maintaining a high level of accountability and ownership over your tasks.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess at least five years of relevant PHP development experience, with a strong background in WordPress customization and plugin development. Proficiency in writing clean, efficient code following established coding standards, along with experience in unit testing and applying design patterns, is essential. Familiarity with Symfony is considered a plus. You should be capable of working independently, taking responsibility for your tasks, and delivering high-quality solutions. Knowledge of modern development practices, version control, and continuous integration will be advantageous. Additionally, a proactive attitude and excellent communication skills are vital for thriving in a remote team environment.

Responsibilities

Your key responsibilities will include developing and maintaining custom WordPress plugins and themes tailored to client needs, ensuring high performance and scalability for high-traffic websites. You will collaborate with project managers and designers during sprint planning to understand project requirements and deliver solutions accordingly. Writing and executing unit tests to ensure code quality and stability will be part of your routine. You will also be involved in creating and maintaining integrations with third-party systems, developing custom API connections, and applying design patterns to enhance code maintainability. Participating in code reviews, adhering to best practices, and continuously improving your technical skills are integral to your role. Additionally, you will contribute to the team’s knowledge sharing and help to foster a collaborative and innovative working environment.
