Scala Developer – Contract | Remote (EU) | Event-Driven Systems

Digisourced Ltd is supporting a client engagement and is seeking an experienced Scala Developer to contribute to the development of a large-scale, real-time planning and optimisation platform.

Role Overview

This role focuses on building and enhancing highly scalable, event-driven backend systems within a complex, data-intensive environment. The platform supports real-time planning and optimisation processes using advanced technologies and modern architecture patterns.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop scalable backend services using Scala and functional programming paradigms
• Design and implement event-driven architectures using streaming frameworks (e.g. Kafka)
• Deploy and manage services within Kubernetes environments on AWS
• Collaborate on system design, development, and optimisation
• Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code
• Participate in code reviews, testing, and debugging activities
• Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure delivery quality

Required Experience

• Strong experience with Scala and functional programming (e.g. ZIO, Cats Effect, Akka Streams)
• Experience building event-driven systems using Kafka or similar frameworks
• Experience deploying services in Kubernetes environments (AWS)

• Experience with Protobuf or similar frameworks
• Strong background in backend development and scalable systems

• Exposure to high-availability, mission-critical environments
