About the Role

Integer Technologies is forming a specialized team to conduct advanced science and technology research focused on the operationalization of passive acoustic soundscape data for Undersea Warfare (USW) and Seabed and Subsea Warfare (SSW). We are looking for an engineer with strong software development skills and hands-on experience processing maritime acoustic data. This role bridges algorithm development, data engineering, and system integration, supporting both research and operational programs involving UUVs, USVs, and maritime sensing systems.

Integer’s operating model is built on transforming science and technology research into deployable capabilities for the Department of War. Much of our work involves developing solutions for complex problems that currently have no known answers. As a result, candidates must be able to conduct original research, rapidly learn new concepts from a range of engineering disciplines, and document findings in a clear, accessible manner for both technical and nontechnical audiences in collaboration with the program’s Principal Investigator.

Primary Responsibilities

1. Develop software pipelines for ingesting, cleaning, transforming, and analyzing acoustic sensor data.
2. Implement detection, localization, and classification algorithms for underwater acoustic signals.
3. Build tools that support autonomy, perception, and situational awareness for maritime robotics.
4. Work with modeling teams to integrate processed data into simulation environments and digital twins.
5. Collaborate with hardware, autonomy, and mission systems teams to validate algorithms in lab and field environments.

6. Produce technical documentation, customer deliverables, and internal engineering standards.
7. Travel as required to execute research and product development. Travel is estimated to average less than 10%.
8. Other duties as assigned, potentially supporting the Company as needed to develop new funded research and engineering projects.

Core Requirements

• Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Acoustics, Ocean Engineering, or related discipline.
• Strong software engineering background (Python, C++, MATLAB).
• Experience with acoustic data processing, sonar systems, or similar systems.
• Familiarity with machine learning frameworks (NumPy, SciPy, PyTorch, TensorFlow) is a plus.
• Proficiency in at least one programming language (e.g., Python, C++, Java).
• Experience with real world acoustic data collection or processing.

Additional Desired Qualifications

• A PhD in Acoustics, Ocean Engineering, Physics, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
• Experience with maritime communication systems, real time processing, or embedded software for robotic platforms.
• Experience with uncrewed maritime systems, machine learning for acoustic classification, or real time acoustic processing pipelines.
• Deep technical knowledge of simulation solver technologies and numerical integration methods. Awareness of industry best practices for robust numerical convergence.
