Job Description

💰 Salary: ~£230k total package (base + equity, flexible split)

🔐 Company: AI Equity / Quant Research

👥 Team: 5

💸 Funding: Bootstrapped (self-funded by the founders)

🛂 VISA sponsorship is available if needed

About the company

This early stage start up has built an AI agent that reclaims back time when it comes to Equity Research.

It knows your coverage universe, learns your exact accounting conventions, monitors peers while you sleep and delivers institutional-grade analysis within minutes of an earnings release. Not summaries. Not a chatbot you have to prompt 15 times. A genuine research workflow - end to end, from initial screening through to model output - that works the way analysts actually think.

4 weeks post-launch. 265 users. With no marketing. The traction is real, and they're just getting started.

Team of 5 - people with serious investment backgrounds, including a co-founder who runs a £1.5bn fund and an Oxford ML PhD who's built retrieval infrastructure that hits 100% accuracy on financial data (the previous industry best was 91%). They're small by design, moving fast, and building something that's genuinely hard to replicate.

About the role

This role is for someone who has spent real time in public markets (buy-side or sell-side) and also builds things. Not dabbles. Builds. Tools their desk actually used. Automations that saved hours. Workflows that made colleagues better at their jobs.

You'll work directly with the founders, embedded in both product and research. You'll shape what they build next, own chunks of the technical roadmap and spend roughly 20-30% of your time on pure R&D - keeping us at the state of the art in agent design and LLM orchestration.

The rest is building, shipping, and making the product demonstrably better every week.

The people who will thrive here have been riding the AI wave for a couple of years already - not because they were told to, but because they couldn't help themselves.

What we're looking for

The non-negotiables are simple but rare together:

  • Public markets experience - buy-side or sell-side, equities or commodities. You need to understand how investment research actually gets done, not just in theory.
  • A track record of building - if you come from an investment background, show us what you've built. If you can't show us something, this probably isn't the right role. Quants from multi-manager funds who've built desk tools, data scientists embedded in investment teams, analysts who went deep on automation - these are the profiles we're thinking about.
  • Genuine AI depth - you understand agent orchestration, LLM workflows and how to build systems that are actually reliable. GitHub isn't intimidating. Coding agents are part of how you work.
  • Self-direction - we're five people. There's no one to manage you through ambiguity. You need to be able to identify the highest-leverage thing to build and go build it.

The stack & approach

The team builds agents with custom, investment-specific tooling - verticalised orchestration designed around the actual modules of investment work rather than generic AI wrappers. They care deeply about accuracy (100% on financial retrieval isn't an accident) and maintain dedicated R&D bandwidth to stay ahead. This isn't a "slap an LLM on" kind of operation - you'll be designing and building industry defining software from the ground up.

💰 The package on offer: up to ~£230k total, split between base salary and equity, however works best for you.
