The Role
We are looking for a System Administration Engineer with strong expertise in Windows-based infrastructure to join our fast-growing Network. In this role, you will support a Switzerland-based technology company delivering software and cloud solutions for licensing management and cloud cost optimization.
You will play a key role in deploying, configuring, and maintaining customer environments, while acting as a trusted technical advisor. This is a customer-facing role combining hands-on infrastructure work with consulting and support responsibilities in complex IT environments.
This is a long-term, full-time remote engagement where you will work closely with customers and internal teams to ensure reliable, scalable, and well-integrated systems.
Main responsibilities
- Support customers with product-related issues via Zoom, email, and ticketing systems
- Onboard new customers and guide them through agent deployment and configuration
- Plan, prepare, and consult on product deployments in customer environments
- Install and configure the product in collaboration with customers
- Deliver training sessions on deployment, configuration, and usage
- Advise customers on infrastructure and configuration improvements
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues across Windows, Linux, networking, and virtualization layers
- Perform log analysis, root cause analysis, and replicate issues in lab environments when needed
- Diagnose agent-to-server communication issues (connectivity, ports, firewalls, proxies)
- Perform preventive maintenance to ensure system performance and reliability
- Collaborate with internal teams to improve deployment processes and customer experience
- Monitor system environments and proactively identify risks or inefficiencies
- Communicate clearly and effectively during troubleshooting and incidents, including with non-technical stakeholders

Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in system administration or infrastructure engineering
- Strong experience with Windows Server environments (AD, DNS, SQL, Exchange, SharePoint)
- Solid experience with Linux administration
- Experience with virtualization platforms (Hyper-V, VMware)
- Strong troubleshooting skills, including log analysis and root cause analysis
- Ability to build test/lab environments to replicate issues
- Solid understanding of networking fundamentals (firewalls, proxies, routing, connectivity troubleshooting)
- Experience planning and designing IT infrastructure (servers, networks, virtualization)
- Experience providing remote customer support via Zoom, email, and ticketing tools
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- High level of English proficiency (written and spoken)
- Excellent communication and customer-facing skills, with the ability to explain technical topics clearly
Nice to have
- Familiarity with Azure infrastructure, including Azure Arc and hybrid licensing concepts
- Basic understanding of CI/CD concepts
- Knowledge of containerization tools (Docker, Docker Compose)
- Experience with additional infrastructure platforms such as Proxmox, KVM, Red Hat, or OpenStack
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
- Familiarity with automation and scripting (PowerShell, Bash)
- Experience with monitoring tools and observability practices
- Knowledge of security best practices in infrastructure environments
