Applied AI Software Engineer

BioTalent are partnered with an advanced AI and computational science organisation is building a specialist engineering team focused on applied generative and agentic AI systems. This role will focus on developing intelligent software tools, autonomous workflows, retrieval systems, and AI-powered infrastructure used across highly technical research environments.

The role

You’ll contribute across the full software development lifecycle, from early prototyping through to production deployment.

Responsibilities include:

Building AI-powered software systems and internal tooling

Developing smart agents and retrieval workflows

Supporting LLM-based applications and infrastructure

Automating complex research and engineering processes

Improving data workflows and AI model efficiency

Deploying scalable AI applications into production environments

What they’re looking for

Strong software engineering background

Excellent Python programming skills

Experience with AI systems, LLMs, or agentic workflows

Experience building scalable software applications and infrastructure

Interest in workflow automation and AI tooling

Strong technical problem-solving ability

Experience within scientific, computational, or research environments is beneficial but not essential.
