Job Summary For Azure Data Engineer Role
- Position: Azure Data Engineer (Contract)
- Location: Grand Rapids, MI (Hybrid: Onsite M-W, Remote Th-F)
- Relocation: Must relocate to Grand Rapids, MI on day 1 (preference for candidates from MI, OH, IN, KY, IL, WI)
- Experience Required: 8-12 years total, with 5-10 years Azure Data Engineering (minimum 5-7 years Azure-focused data engineering)
- Technical Skills Required:
- Azure Data Engineering (ADF, Databricks, Synapse Analytics)
- Python and SQL (Scala is a plus)
- Data Lakes, Data Warehousing (facts & dimensions)
- API-driven data ingestion and integration
- Familiarity with digital marketing or ecommerce data (preferred)
- Experience with AWS, GCP data sources is a plus, but not required
- Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, modify, and implement data engineering solutions on Azure
- Support and install software applications and operating systems as needed
- Participate in testing, review, analysis, and certification of software solutions
- Perform discovery on existing tools/data flows and recommend data models
- Work with marketing data, site analysis data, consumer data from web/mobile apps and social media
- Be self-sufficient, proactive, and able to work with minimal supervision
- Collaborate closely with a hybrid onsite team (8+ FTE, 15+ contractors)
- Candidate Qualities:
- Must be able to explain and provide details on all resume skills/projects (deep knowledge required)
- Excellent teamwork, quick learner, and proactive mindset
- Strong communication skills; able to discuss technical project details in depth
- Interview Process:
- Q&A format focusing on project/technology experience (no technical test/whiteboarding)
- Candidates must articulate deep experience, not just surface-level knowledge
- Other Requirements:
- Bachelor s degree required (major, college, graduation date must be listed will be verified)
- Resume and LinkedIn profiles must match, with consistent project timelines
- All projects on resume must include a description of actual work performed
- Resume must be 3-4 pages max

- Preference: Recent retail/grocery experience is a plus, not required
