Job Description
JOB PURPOSE
Lead Materials, Planning & Logistics for the manufacturing footprint under the COO organization to provide required purchase, issuance of material for day-to-day production and dispatch of finished goods to customers; Contribute to Plant level planning in terms of purchase, PPC, stores, etc. for smooth production.
Define and design Varroc MP&L strategy to optimize inventory levels in COO Organization
- Reviewing and making necessary policy changes to optimize Slow moving, Non-Moving, Obsolescence and Obsolescence sales via CD/SCM
- Regular review of ageing inventory and initiatives to reduce ageing.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
Ensure Business Unit Material Supply
- Define process and workflow for effective communication between Corp CD/SCM and Regions/Clusters / Plants.
- Regularly review material supply of critical parts and Resolve escalations with suppliers; owing to various reasons such as rejections, quality, resource, capacity issues, customer demand fluctuation, etc.; Work with the supplier to address issues.
- Review quality related issues with the Cluster MP&L, analyze emerging quality issues from representative sample, deep dive to isolate issues and work with Regional Operations Head, Quality & EHS etc. for alignment / issue resolution.
- For capacity issues at supplier end, involve corporate material, hold joint meeting with supplier and corporate material to address the capacity and investment related issues.
- Responsible for capacity inhouse.
Supplier Upgradation and Material Analysis
- Participate in monthly COO Ops level meetings.
- Ensuring appropriate supplier capacity KPI for MP&L

Inventory Control
- Define organization wide inventory targets in number of days (jointly with Regional Operations head and Cluster MP&L) for various types of inventories, such as overall inventory, packing inventory, child part inventory, semi-finished good inventory, finished good inventory, etc.
- Consider and analyze multiple parameters such as electronic / Poly/ Metallic part lead time variations, customer location, lead time, supplier location, imported part content, product type, product miss to determine inventory targets.
- Periodic review of the inventory status with the BU MP&L to monitor inventory as per target; Address the concerns emerging/ highlighted by the Cluster MP&L head in cases of deviations.
- Consolidate and present the status of inventory control to the top management on a monthly basis to minimize impact on capital and cash and ensure optimum inventory levels are maintained.
- Ensure OTIF from supplier and to customer, responsible for customer schedule adherence.
- Be Varrocs Inventory Champion, implement Pull system (Production as per demand)
- Responsible for ensuring MRP (material resource planning) implementation across Varroc BUs, ensure perpetual inventory is implemented, define initiatives to improve reporting and manage inventory from cash conversion perspective as well.
- Ensure timely management of inventory at RM, SFG and FG levels.
- Establish and re-enforce the process of maintaining physical inventories and inventory information. This includes warehouse management, cycle counting, physical inventories, and inventory reconciliation.
- Ensure capacity availability as per monthly customer schedule.
- Analyze and oversee preparation of various analysis such as Cluster wise inventory reports, major parts in inventory, etc.; Coordinate with Clusters/ Regions to ensure action on inventory control and minimize inventory.
- Responsible for defining classification (A, B, C analysis) of inventory, TOC, bifurcation in RM , WIP , FG . Defining plant wise targets for inventory in line with Budget
- Resp for monitoring inventory obsolescence and necessary claims to customers and follow up with sales to get the physical obsolescence back.
- Define mfg process along with Central ME head(s). (how much inventory to keep)
- Resp to participate in all the NPD reviews he will voice opinion on additional grades etc. Question MOQ decisions.
Maintenance of Share of Business

- Monitor deviations and discuss with respective Clusters/ Regions to resolve concerns on deviations on share of business parameters to mitigate associated risk; Undertake root cause analysis of supplier issues such as quality, capacity, delivery issues, etc. and provide inputs for resolution
- Ensure supplier escalations are attended to in order to maintain SOB,
- Check SOB on monthly basis and assess cost impact; Interact with corporate material to meet SOB parameters.
Process/ System SOP Definition
- Define SOP and guidelines from system and process point of view, e.g. inventory to be maintained at target level, therefore define the inventory level at min/ max level, purchase, planning, etc. Maintain, implement, and document all of Varroc core inventory processes (SOP)
- To ensure control over standard processes compliance in SAP for material movement and complete control over BOM (and its variations)
- Define policies and workstreams to reduce physical and system variance across Clusters
- Drive and be active stakeholder in defining Projects on Continuous Improvement with respect to Inventory, Packaging, and transport.
- Analyze the various aspects of material, inventory, supplier, Cluster / Plant requirements, cost impact, etc. to support the teams to define the SOP and guidelines.
Team Development
- Participate in recruitment process to identify the right talent across positions within the function.
- Establish individual performance expectations and regularly review individual performance of the team.
- Identify and create development opportunities for team members to enhance functional knowledge.
QUALIFICATION

- Minimum Qualification required - BE / B.Tech (Full-time)
- Preferred Qualification - ME / M.Tech / MBA-PG in SCM in addition to the above qualification
WORK EXPERIENCE
- Minimum 18-20 years of experience - working in Automotive / Auto Component / FMCG Industry
- Knowledge of auto-manufacturing fast paced environment
- Strong experience in the automobile sector especially in material planning and logistics function.
- Knowledge on suppliers of Automotive Component Manufacturers and challenges associated therein.
- Strong Influencing capability
- Act as a Functional Mentor on the subject matter
- Hands-on Materials ERP platforms & application
LOCATION - The position is based at our Corporate Office in Pune.
REPORTING - The position reports to the COO - India Business and has a Team reporting to it down the line.
RELOCATION - Outstation candidates / applicants will have to relocate to PUNE with family & will be eligible to avail the Relocation Policy benefits.
