Job Summary

The HR Specialist will report directly to the HR Manager and play a key hands-on role in supporting the build-out of the HR function for our new solar cell manufacturing facility in Greenville, SC. This position is ideal for a detail-oriented HR professional who will assist with full-cycle recruiting, payroll processing, employee onboarding, benefits administration, and day-to-day HR generalist activities during the critical greenfield ramp-up phase.


Key Responsibilities

Talent Acquisition Support

  • Support full-cycle recruiting for hourly operators, technicians, and professional roles
  • Post job requisitions, screen resumes, coordinate interviews, and manage candidate communications
  • Assist with international recruitment coordination, visa documentation, and relocation support
  • Help build and promote the employer brand through job postings and campus/community outreach

Onboarding & Employee Experience

  • Manage new hire onboarding processes, including orientation, paperwork, system setup, and facility tours
  • Ensure smooth integration of new employees into the production and professional workforce
  • Support retention initiatives and employee engagement activities

Payroll & Benefits Administration

  • Process bi-weekly payroll using HRIS systems, including time & attendance validation
  • Administer employee benefits programs (health, dental, vision, 401(k), etc.) and assist with open enrollment
  • Handle benefit enrollments, changes, and terminations

HR Operations & Generalist Support

  • Maintain accurate employee records in HRIS (ADP Workforce Now preferred)
  • Assist with employee relations, policy interpretation, and basic investigations
  • Support performance management, attendance tracking, and corrective action documentation
  • Prepare HR reports and metrics (headcount, turnover, time-to-fill, etc.)
  • Help establish and maintain factory policies, procedures, and compliance programs

Community & Administrative Support

  • Assist with local community engagement events and employer branding activities
  • Provide general HR administrative support to the HR Manager and plant leadership

Required Qualifications

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field (or 3+ years of progressive HR experience)
  • Solid experience in recruiting, payroll processing, onboarding, and benefits administration
  • Strong knowledge of employment laws and best practices
  • Proficiency with HRIS systems (ADP Workforce Now preferred) and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, start-up manufacturing environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2+ years of HR Generalist or Specialist experience in manufacturing
  • Experience supporting high-volume hourly hiring and greenfield/start-up operations
  • SHRM-CP or PHR certification
  • Familiarity with international recruitment and immigration processes

Work Environment

  • On-site in a new manufacturing facility with regular interaction on the production floor
  • Fast-paced, high-growth environment with flexibility needed during ramp-up periods
  • Direct reporting to the HR Manager with high visibility and impact
