Senior Backend Engineer (Go, AWS)

Summary

Remote Crew is looking for a Senior Backend Engineer with strong Go (Golang) expertise to design and scale distributed systems powering conversational AI experiences for large enterprise retailers. This role involves building reliable backend services, integrating messaging and data systems, and collaborating closely with product, AI, and frontend teams to deliver scalable, customer-facing features in a fast-moving environment.

Salary: €60k – €80k per year

Location: Remote-first in Europe

What You’ll Do

• Design, build, and maintain distributed backend systems using Go and cloud infrastructure
• Develop and scale services using technologies such as AWS, Kafka, Postgres, and DynamoDB
• Collaborate with product, AI, and frontend teams to deliver scalable customer-facing features
• Own key parts of the platform infrastructure, including messaging orchestration and data pipelines
• Ensure reliability, observability, and operational excellence across services
• Define and track performance metrics to improve system performance and business outcomes
• Contribute to code reviews, mentor teammates, and promote engineering best practices

What We’re Looking For

• 5+ years of experience in software engineering roles building backend or distributed systems
• Strong experience with Go (Golang) and cloud infrastructure, preferably AWS
• Experience with event-driven architectures and technologies such as Kafka, Postgres, or DynamoDB
• Solid understanding of system design, concurrency, and data consistency
• Experience working in fast-paced or startup environments
• Frontend experience (React, TypeScript) or Python knowledge is a plus
• Fluent English and strong communication skills in distributed teams
