I’m currently recruiting for a freelance AI Automation Engineer opportunity focused on the next generation of autonomous AI agents and orchestration systems.

This is an exciting opportunity for backend engineers, AI automation specialists and technically curious software developers who want to work on cutting-edge Large Language Model workflows, autonomous systems and multi-step reasoning environments.

The project focuses on helping advanced AI systems operate more proactively within real-world workflows — designing and improving how AI agents coordinate tasks, interact with live tools and execute complex decision-making processes.

This is not traditional software engineering.

You’ll be working on highly sophisticated AI workflows involving orchestration logic, live system interactions, tool integrations and real-world autonomous behaviour.

What you’ll be doing:

• Building and improving AI agent orchestration workflows

• Developing modular backend systems and automation pipelines

• Supporting multi-step autonomous reasoning and coordination tasks

• Working with real APIs, databases and live environments

• Evaluating AI outputs, workflow behaviour and agent performance

• Identifying edge cases, system failures and workflow vulnerabilities

• Supporting integrations across external tools and services

• Providing high-quality technical feedback to improve AI reliability and performance

What they’re looking for:

• 2+ years’ experience within backend engineering, AI automation or systems integration

• Strong programming capability across languages such as:

• Python
• JavaScript
• Go
• Java
• • Experience working with SQL databases
• • Experience building scalable production-grade systems
• • Strong understanding of live system interactions and workflow coordination
• • Excellent attention to detail and analytical problem-solving capability
• • Ability to communicate technical observations clearly and effectively

Additional experience of interest:

• AI agents, orchestration systems or autonomous workflows

• Multi-stage reasoning pipelines and coordination tasks

• Supabase, Gmail or API integrations

• Persistent memory/state management systems

• Prompt injection, privacy or security vulnerability analysis

• RAG systems, LLM tooling or agent frameworks
