Job Description


Welcome to Fable, where we make beautiful, functional home decor. We design pieces that are made to last and meant to be lived with โ€” bringing better to every home, one ritual at a time.


Role Impact:

Fable is looking for an Art Director to shape the creative voice of our brand โ€” and to help us become the Aesop of home decor. This is a senior creative role for someone who can set the visual tone across everything we do, lead a small in-house team, and bring more humanity, warmth, and craft to how Fable shows up in the world. If you believe great design tells a story โ€” and that the best brands feel like a place, not just a logo โ€” we'd love to meet you.


Responsibilities:

- Own the creative direction for all major brand moments โ€” including Holiday, BFCM, product launches, and product merchandising stories โ€” from initial concept through final execution.

- Set the visual tone for the Fable brand across every customer touchpoint: site, email, social, paid, packaging, and retail.

- Lead and manage our in-house copywriter and graphic designer, mentoring the team and elevating the quality of work across the board.

- Develop seasonal creative concepts that translate Fable's products into stories, rituals, and moments โ€” not just shots of dinnerware.

- Build briefs, mood boards, and creative guardrails that align cross-functional partners (Marketing, Merchandising, Product, Ops) around a shared vision.

- Support ad design, UX design, and other creative needs across the business โ€” a true jack of all trades who can flex from a brand campaign to a banner ad to a landing page wireframe.

- Direct and art direct photo and video shoots, including styling, location, casting, and post-production.

- Partner with Brand, Retention, and Performance Marketing to ensure creative drives both brand love and business results.

- Evolve and protect our brand guidelines โ€” typography, color, photography, illustration, layout โ€” and ensure consistency across every piece of work that ships.

- Stay close to culture, design, and the broader home and lifestyle landscape. Bring inspiration, references, and points of view to the team.

- Build the kind of work that makes people stop scrolling, save the image, and want to live inside the world we're creating.


In this role we value:

- 6+ years of design experience, with at least 2 years in an Art Director or senior creative role โ€” ideally at a lifestyle, home, beauty, or fashion brand.

- A portfolio that shows range: brand campaigns, product launches, performance creative, packaging, digital. Bonus points if it shows restraint, warmth, and a clear point of view.

- Experience leading and managing creative teams. You know how to give a great brief, how to push work without crushing the maker, and how to grow the people around you.

- Strong art direction instincts โ€” you can style a shoot, sketch a concept, and explain why a layout isn't working in the same breath.

- Fluency in the full creative stack: brand identity, photography, typography, layout, motion. Hands-on with Figma and Adobe Creative Suite.

- An understanding of how creative drives commerce. You care about the work and the numbers.

- A taste level that leans editorial, considered, and quietly confident โ€” think Aesop, Le Labo, Toast, Flamingo Estate.

- A point of view, and the humility to evolve it. You can hold a vision and still hear the room.
