Platform SRE – Security Focused Remote · US / Canada
About the Role
We're a fast-moving FinTech startup looking for a Platform SRE with a security-first mindset. You're primarily a builder — someone who loves infrastructure, automation, and scale — but you bring deep security instincts to everything you touch. You'll own the reliability and security of our cloud platform, work directly with engineering, and represent our security posture to customers and partners.
This is a high-ownership, high-autonomy role. You'll work across the stack — from Terraform modules and AWS architecture to vulnerability remediation and customer security reviews — with no hand-holding and plenty of scope to do your best work.
What You'll Do
Platform & Infrastructure
- Own and evolve our cloud infrastructure on AWS using Terraform and infrastructure-as-code practices
- Build and maintain secure, reliable CI/CD pipelines and platform tooling
- Drive platform reliability, observability, and incident response
Security Engineering
- Harden cloud infrastructure, APIs, and internal systems against evolving threats
- Identify and remediate vulnerabilities through scanning, threat modeling, and adversarial testing
- Implement and maintain secrets management, access controls, encryption, and security monitoring
- Integrate security controls directly into engineering workflows — not as an afterthought

Compliance & Customer Engagement
- Maintain continuous SOC 2 and PCI DSS compliance — evidence-ready, not just audit-ready
- Participate in customer and partner security reviews, questionnaires, and due diligence
- Clearly communicate our security architecture and controls to enterprise customers and financial institutions
What You Bring
Required
- 5–8 years of hands-on platform engineering, DevSecOps, or infrastructure security experience
- Deep AWS expertise across compute, networking, IAM, and security services
- Terraform is a must — you write infra-as-code by default, not as an afterthought
- Experience with SOC 2 and PCI DSS compliance in production environments
- Self-starter who thrives with autonomy, moves fast, and prioritizes ruthlessly
- Strong communicator — equally comfortable in a GitHub PR and a customer security review
