DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Senior Accountant is responsible for independently managing key portions of the monthly accounting cycle, including reconciliations, month-end close, financial reporting, and ongoing support, while working closely with the Accounting Manager and Client Advisors to ensure accurate and timely outputs.
This role handles more complex accounting workflows with less day-to-day oversight, and is expected to proactively identify and resolve issues, maintain strong client communication, and support workflow consistency, while maintaining ownership of client accounting workflows and reporting accuracy.

As a Senior Accountant, you will:
- Maintain and review client financial records, complete month-end accounting procedures, prepare financial reporting packages, and support the accuracy and integrity of accounting workflows across assigned clients
- Work primarily in QuickBooks, Excel, Xenett, and various client platforms including payroll systems, banking platforms, POS systems, and operational software
- Independently manage the monthly accounting cycle for assigned clients
- Complete bank, credit card, loan, and balance sheet reconciliations
- Prepare and post routine and complex journal entries
- Complete month-end close procedures in Xenett within internal deadlines
- Review financial activity for accuracy and completeness prior to reporting
- Prepare and publish monthly financial statements for assigned clients
- Process payroll and related payroll journal entries
- Support accounts payable payment processing workflows
- Review accounts receivable invoices for accuracy and completeness
- Identify, investigate, and resolve accounting discrepancies proactively
- Escalate unusual or high-risk accounting issues to the Accounting Manager as needed
- Communicate directly with clients regarding accounting workflows, missing information, and month-end close needs
- Monitor deadlines and manage multiple client priorities simultaneously
- Support onboarding and workflow training for newer team members
- Occasionally assist with peer review and troubleshooting of accounting work
- Collaborate with the Accounting Manager and Client Advisors to maintain accurate and timely reporting
- Engage directly with clients through remote meetings, phone calls, texting, and/or email communication as appropriate
- Perform other administrative and accounting duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
We are looking for someone who is adaptable, collaborative, organized, and able to work independently with strong attention to detail. As a core member of a growing team, the Senior Accountant must be comfortable balancing multiple clients, shifting priorities, and proactively managing accounting workflows with less day-to-day oversight.
The ideal candidate understands the importance of data integrity, client communication, and deadline management while also being willing to support team collaboration and continuous improvement, and must exhibit excellent self-management and accountability as a remote employee.
- Associate degree or higher in Accounting, Finance, or Business preferred but not required
- QuickBooks Online ProAdvisor Certification required or ability to obtain within the first 90 days
- 5–6+ years of bookkeeping/accounting experience required
- Full-cycle monthly close experience required
- Strong understanding of accrual-basis accounting required
- Experience preparing and reviewing financial statements preferred
- Experience troubleshooting accounting discrepancies independently preferred
- Accounting cleanup/catch-up experience preferred
- Experience managing multiple clients or entities simultaneously preferred
- Restaurant, nonprofit, or multi-entity accounting experience preferred
- Experience with payroll processing preferred
- Experience and working knowledge of GAAP preferred. Continuing education credits will be required annually
- Proficient use of Microsoft Office 365 tools, specifically Excel and Teams
- Experience with task management systems like ClickUp, Asana, Monday.com, etc. preferred
- Outstanding attention to detail, organizational skills, and time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to balance multiple clients with changing priorities
