About the Role
We are looking for an experienced PHP Developer with strong Moodle development capabilities to join a major platform enhancement and transformation initiative. This role will focus on developing, customising, and optimising Moodle solutions that improve performance, user experience, integrations, and long-term platform sustainability.
You will be responsible for delivering high-quality development outcomes across system enhancements, plugin development, integrations, migration activities, performance improvements, and defect resolution. Working within an Agile environment, you will collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure solutions align with technical architecture, security standards, and business objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, customise, and maintain Moodle-based applications and solutions
- Design and build Moodle plugins, integrations, and custom functionality
- Support platform migration, consolidation, and enhancement initiatives
- Troubleshoot and resolve application defects and technical issues
- Optimise application performance, scalability, and maintainability
- Integrate Moodle with internal and external systems through APIs and web services
- Participate in code reviews, testing, and continuous improvement activities
- Ensure development practices align with architectural, security, and quality standards
- Collaborate with technical and business stakeholders throughout the development lifecycle

Required Skills & Experience
- Strong commercial experience in PHP web development
- Solid understanding of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) principles
- Experience with API development and system integrations
- Strong JavaScript/jQuery development skills
- Experience with CSS and responsive web development
- Experience developing solutions in Moodle or other large-scale open-source PHP platforms
- Strong database skills using PostgreSQL, MySQL, or other relational databases
- Experience using Git or similar version control systems within collaborative development teams
- Experience working with Docker containers and development environments
