Job Description

We are seeking a Frontend Development Intern to assist with the technical components of our advisory work. Our firm is currently advising a regional financial services provider on their commercial rollout in Nigeria. This specific role involves building and refining the web interfaces we use to present partnership models and market data to this client. Because this project is entering a deployment phase in Nigeria, the intern will help adapt frontend elements to reflect local user requirements and data structures through a fully remote arrangement.

Employment setup
  • Legal Employer: Gulf Associates.
  • Location Eligibility: This is a fully remote role. We are accepting applications from candidates based in Nigeria or surrounding regions who can overlap with our team hours.
  • Employment Type: This is a full-time internship for a fixed duration of six months.
  • Compensation: This is a paid position.
  • Work Authorization: Candidates must have the right to work in their current country of residence.
  • Working Hours: 40 hours per week with core availability during the morning hours in the UTC+4 timezone.
  • Reporting Line: You will report directly to the Technical Lead and collaborate with the senior partners on client deliverables.
  • Hiring Process: The process consists of an initial application review, a practical technical exercise, and a final interview via video call.

What you will do
  • Build and maintain web components using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to support our advisory dashboards.
  • Work with the research team to translate complex partnership data into clear, interactive visual formats.
  • Assist in adapting frontend code for the Nigeria project to ensure it meets the specific needs of the regional financial services provider.
  • Test web interfaces for accessibility and performance across different browsers and devices.
  • Write clean and organized code that follows our existing technical standards.
  • Collaborate with the lead developer to update and improve our internal tools for data visualization.
  • Ensure that the visual presentation of our findings remains consistent with our firm's professional standards.
  • Participate in team meetings to report on progress and discuss technical requirements for active client engagements.

What you bring
  • Basic understanding of core web technologies including HTML5 and CSS3.
  • Comfortable writing JavaScript and an interest in learning more about modern frameworks like React or Vue.
  • Exposure to version control tools such as Git for managing code changes.
  • A logical approach to solving layout problems and an interest in user interface design.
  • The ability to write clearly and explain technical ideas to non-technical partners.
  • Attention to detail when translating design mockups into functional web pages.
  • Curiosity about how commercial logic and investment decisions are presented to senior executives.
  • Willingness to take feedback and iterate on work to meet high accuracy requirements.

What the role offers
  • Practical experience working on a live engagement for a regional financial services provider.
  • Direct exposure to senior decision-makers and the commercial logic of investment advisory.
  • Mentorship from experienced developers and partners who value technical precision.
  • A fully remote working structure that emphasizes clear communication over office presence.
  • Opportunity to build a portfolio of work related to commercial judgment and high-stakes advisory.

Working at Gulf Associates
Gulf Associates is a specialized firm. We do not produce bulk reports or theoretical models. We focus on ground reality and providing clients with positions they can actually act on. This means our technical work must be precise and serves a direct commercial purpose. We value interns who are quiet, observant, and disciplined in their work. We operate with a small number of active engagements to ensure the partners can stay involved in the details. At this firm, outcomes are more important than the volume of output. We expect our team members to be honest about what they know and diligent in learning what they do not.
