Job Description
About the Opportunity
We are partnering with a growing Minnesota manufacturer of custom engine exhaust systems for critical environments. Their company employs 130 people, up from 25 three years ago, is privately held, profitable, and recently added a second facility to support continued growth. As the business scales and adds new product lines, the people who turn engineering intent into clean, buildable drawings are the ones who keep the floor moving.
The Role
You will prepare the detailed working drawings and 3D models that tell the manufacturing floor exactly what to build. You translate engineering concepts into accurate models, structure assemblies so they mirror how the product is actually made, and stay close enough to production to catch problems before they reach the floor. This is hands-on design work with a direct line of sight to what gets fabricated.
This is an on-site (hybrid) role in Minnesota open to candidates requiring TN or H-1B1 visa sponsorship (Mexico, Chile, Canada); visa process fully managed and costs covered.
What You Will Do
- Develop detailed drawings and specifications for parts, assemblies, production fixtures, and shipping arrangements in SolidWorks
- Build 3D models of parts and assemblies, and structure assemblies to follow and document the manufacturing process
- Create drawings that completely and accurately capture the functional relationships between parts
- Revise designs to correct operating deficiencies and resolve production problems
- Review sketches, drawings, and related data to assess factors affecting component design
- Work directly with engineers, manufacturing engineering, production staff, and customers to resolve design and production issues
- Prepare technical illustrations for manuals and publications
- Operate in compliance with the company's safety and quality standards
