THE ORGANIZATION
Our client, a leader in the manufacturing industry with a strong track record of success, is hiring a Manager, Safety. This organization is highly established and has a strong reputation in the market.

THE OPPORTUNITY
The Manager, Safety will report to the Director and work out of the manufacturing facility in a Northern rural location within Alberta. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting and ensuring our client maintains compliance with provincial and federal legislation, emergency response requirements, and safety protocols.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Safety Program Management & Compliance
- Support the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of safety programs, systems, and processes across the organization.
- Monitor compliance with occupational health and safety legislation, regulations, policies, and procedures, guiding leaders and employees.
- Conduct regulatory scanning and communicate emerging safety requirements and compliance obligations.
- Monitor safety performance indicators and take action to address non-compliance, trends, and areas for improvement.
Risk Management, Audits & Investigations
- Conduct risk assessments, workplace inspections, and safety program reviews to identify hazards and recommend corrective actions.
- Lead and participate in incident, injury, and near-miss investigations, identifying root causes and ensuring corrective actions are implemented.
- Analyze leading and lagging indicators to identify trends and provide recommendations to improve safety performance.
- Lead internal safety management system audits and track corrective actions to completion.
Leadership Support & Safety Culture

- Coach and support leaders on safety systems, processes, and regulatory requirements to strengthen safety accountability across the organization.
- Promote safe work practices and foster a proactive safety culture through hazard identification, incident learning, and continuous improvement.
- Identify safety training needs and support the development and delivery of safety training programs.
- Drive consistency of safety systems and best practices across the organization to enhance compliance and capability.
Emergency & Contractor Safety Management
- Oversee contractor safety pre-qualification processes and monitor contractor compliance with organizational safety requirements.
- Maintain and support the organization's Emergency Management System, ensuring alignment with regulatory and operational requirements.
- Collaborate with operational teams and stakeholders to minimize risk exposure and strengthen workplace safety performance.

THE INDIVIDUAL
Given the pivotal role this individual will be expected to play in achieving the objectives of the company and in supporting the success of the organization, the successful candidate must possess the following education, experience, and competencies:
Education
- University degree in a related field (Occupational Health & Safety and/or Emergency Response) is required. An equivalent combination of education and experience, including a related diploma and significant relevant experience, will be considered.
- Occupational Health & Safety certification is considered an asset.
- Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) designation is considered a strong asset.

Experience
- Minimum 5–7 years of progressive safety experience, including strong knowledge of Alberta WCB and Alberta Occupational Health & Safety legislation, regulations, and compliance requirements.
- Experience managing safety and security programs within a manufacturing, industrial, or resource-based environment is required.
- Proven experience conducting incident investigations, risk assessments, safety audits, contractor safety management, and emergency preparedness planning.
- Experience in monitoring safety performance metrics, identifying trends, and implementing corrective actions to improve organizational safety outcomes.
- Experience in regulatory compliance, company standards, and critical risk controls.

- Technical Expertise: Strong working knowledge of Alberta OH&S legislation, WCB requirements, emergency response planning, fire code regulations, and industrial hygiene principles.
