About Sillage Studio

Sillage Studio is an independent game studio building Echoes of Veinemir, a narrative tactical CRPG set on a dystopian sci-fi planet. We draw our retro sci-fi identity from Alien, Blade Runner 2049 and Dune, and we build in Unreal Engine 5. We are a small, passionate team that cares deeply about craft and visual identity.


The Mission

As a freelance Character Outfit & Armor Artist, you will create the armors and outfits that define our cast. This role is about outfits and armor, with no character body sculpt. You will work directly with our art direction, from concepts to final delivery. This is a one shot mission from July to August, full remote, not a recurring engagement for now.


Your responsibilities

  • Model game-ready armors and outfits on the provided MetaHuman base meshes
  • Work with a modular design split by body part (boots, legs, chest, head, back)
  • Deliver high and low poly with baked normal map only, the rest of the texturing is handled by the studio
  • Keep clean topology, UVs and controlled polycounts

Note: The use of generative AI is entirely prohibited on this project. All work must be original and hand-crafted.


You're a great fit if you have

  • Experience as a Character or Outfit Artist in games or digital production
  • Strong hard surface and cloth/armor modeling
  • A solid high to low poly workflow and baking
  • Knowledge in asset optimization for games, game-ready output
  • Autonomy, strong organization, and the ability to document your process for internal and external communication
  • The ability to work from concepts and art direction


Plus

  • 1 to 2 years of experience in a similar role
  • Experience on a shipped game
  • Experience fitting assets onto MetaHuman bases
  • Familiarity with the Unreal Engine asset pipeline
