Why this role

Real-time market data and on-chain data infrastructure are the foundational layer everything else at Gate sits on — trading, strategy, wallets, prediction markets. The current system needs to scale to handle the data complexity of a multi-chain world: EVM, Solana, Move-based chains, DEX pools, order books, and event streams, all feeding downstream consumers with sub-second latency. You'll own the architecture and delivery of this layer, from node ingestion through to structured data assets that product teams actually build on. In 18 months, you'll have shipped a multi-chain data platform with demonstrable latency, throughput, and reliability benchmarks — and built the parsing framework the team extends to every new chain we integrate.

What you'll do

• Architect and build the backend for Gate's Web3 market data system — on-chain prices, DEX pool data, order books, trade flows, and candlestick data — across the full pipeline from ingestion to distribution
• Design and ship a low-latency, high-throughput, horizontally scalable real-time compute layer; own stability, consistency, and freshness under high-concurrency load
• Build real-time data push services (WebSocket, gRPC Streaming) that serve frontend, strategy, and trading consumers with the latency profiles they need

• Lead the design and delivery of the on-chain data platform — node integration, block parsing, event decoding, internal transaction reconstruction, and structured storage
• Abstract multi-chain data models and build a reusable parsing framework that generalises across EVM, Solana, and emerging chains, reducing the cost of every new integration
• Instrument the platform with real-time monitoring and alerting across node health, data latency, completeness, and parsing anomalies

What you'll bring

Non-negotiables

• Has architected and shipped a real-time data platform or on-chain data middleware from scratch — can walk through the key design decisions, the failure modes encountered, and how the system behaves under load

• Production-level Java or Go experience with the internals to match: JVM tuning and Spring ecosystem for Java; Goroutine/Channel concurrency model and primary frameworks (Gin, Go-zero, Gorm) for Go
• Has built with real-time compute primitives in production — state management, backpressure, fault tolerance, Exactly-Once semantics; hands-on with Akka/Pekko, Reactor/RxJava, or Redis Streams
• Deep Web3 engineering experience across EVM and Solana: understands Log Decode, ABI parsing, Trace and internal transaction handling, and has abstracted multi-chain data models in a production context
• Uses AI coding agents as a standard part of the development workflow — has engineering artefacts to show for it (Agent harnesses, Skills, Prompts), not just familiarity

• Hands-on experience with Move-based chains (Sui or Aptos)
• Has built or evaluated MCP, Tool Use, RAG, or Eval pipelines in an engineering context — understands where they add leverage and where they don't
