About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Software Engineer, Security Observability, to join our dedicated Security team. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining secure and scalable systems that significantly enhance our security observability infrastructure. Your expertise will be instrumental in building robust data pipelines, improving system resilience, and supporting forensic investigations and compliance efforts. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including Detection & Response (D&R), to identify and mitigate security risks, ensuring the protection of OpenAI’s technology, people, and products. This role offers flexibility, with options for remote work or relocation assistance to our offices in San Francisco, Seattle, or New York City. Please note that due to operational requirements, applicants must be U.S. citizens.

Qualifications

  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Golang, or similar.
  • Experience with infrastructure as code tools like Terraform.
  • Hands-on experience working with cloud platforms, particularly Azure.
  • Strong background in building and maintaining security-related data pipelines.
  • Generalist engineering mindset with the ability to adapt across domains such as databases, SRE, or security.
  • Effective collaboration skills with security and engineering teams.
  • Proactive and detail-oriented problem-solving approach.
  • Experience supporting forensic investigations and compliance efforts.
  • Knowledge of security observability, data engineering, and platform resilience principles.
