Job Description

About Us

We are a staffing services technology company that helps organizations design, build, and scale digital products and engineering capabilities. Our teams deliver end-to-end software development, Engineering, and design services, and we provide flexible staffing solutions to augment internal teams with specialized talent—quickly and reliably.

The Role

We are looking for a talented Architect to join our distributed design and engineering team. Whether you are a mid-career design professional looking to broaden your scope in commercial/residential architecture or a senior-level Project Architect ready to lead critical design and construction documentation decisions, we have a spot for you on our ladder. You will work across the full project lifecycle, bridging the gap between architectural design, engineering coordination, and construction delivery to ensure projects are completed safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of design excellence and technical quality.

What You’ll Do

  • Architectural Design: Lead and develop creative, functional, and technically sound architectural designs for complex commercial, residential, institutional, and mixed-use projects; produce design concepts, schematic designs, design development documents, and construction documentation using industry-standard CAD and BIM tools (Revit, AutoCAD, ArchiCAD, or Rhino).
  • Collaborate: Work closely with Civil Engineers, Structural Engineers, MEP Engineers, Interior Designers, and Project Managers in an Agile project environment to define architectural requirements, space programs, design intent, and project budgets.
  • Construction Documentation: Develop and manage comprehensive construction document sets including floor plans, elevations, sections, details, specifications, and finish schedules; ensure all construction documents are accurate, coordinated, and compliant with applicable building codes and zoning regulations.
  • Code Compliance & Permitting: Ensure all architectural designs comply with applicable building codes, zoning ordinances, accessibility standards (ADA), and life safety requirements; manage the building permit application and approval process with local authorities having jurisdiction (AHJ).
  • BIM Coordination: Lead and participate in BIM coordination workflows; develop and maintain architectural 3D models, perform clash detection reviews, and support multi-discipline coordination meetings to resolve design conflicts prior to construction.
  • Client Engagement: Serve as a primary design point of contact for clients; lead design presentations, facilitate design review meetings, and manage client feedback to ensure design intent is preserved throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Construction Administration: Provide construction administration services including responding to RFIs, reviewing contractor submittals, conducting site observations, and managing punch lists to ensure the built work conforms to the design intent and contract documents.
  • Compliance & Standards: Implement rigorous design standards in accordance with applicable building codes (IBC, NFPA, ADA), zoning regulations, sustainability certifications (LEED, WELL), and client-specific design guidelines.
  • Mentorship: (For Senior+ roles) Mentor junior architects, architectural designers, and intern architects; provide technical leadership on complex design challenges, code research, and drawing production and review processes.
  • Maintenance & Adaptive Reuse: Assess, rehabilitate, and adaptively reuse existing buildings and structures; manage historic preservation requirements and maintain client and agency technical relationships.

What We’re Looking For

  • Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture (B.Arch or M.Arch) from an NAAB-accredited program.
  • Licensure: Licensed Architect (RA) in at least one US state or Canadian province; licensure in multiple jurisdictions is a strong advantage; candidates actively pursuing licensure (AXP completion) will also be considered.
  • Experience: 5–12+ years of hands-on architectural design and project delivery experience in commercial, residential, institutional, mixed-use, or a related building sector.
  • CAD/BIM Proficiency: Strong experience with architectural design and BIM tools including Revit (required), AutoCAD, ArchiCAD, Rhino, or SketchUp; proficiency in generating coordinated construction document sets and managing BIM models across project phases.
  • Building Codes & Zoning: Deep knowledge of applicable building codes (IBC, NFPA 101), accessibility standards (ADA/ABA), and local zoning regulations; experience navigating plan review and permitting processes with local authorities having jurisdiction (AHJ).
  • Construction Administration: Proven experience providing construction administration services including RFI responses, submittal reviews, site observations, and punch list management on complex building projects.
  • Design Excellence: Strong design sensibility and portfolio demonstrating creative, innovative, and technically resolved architectural design work across a range of project types and scales.
  • Specifications Writing: Experience writing and coordinating project specifications using MasterFormat and industry-standard specification platforms (SpecLink, Arcom Masterspec, or similar).
  • Cross-Functional Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to collaborate effectively in a fully remote, distributed team environment and communicate design intent and technical issues clearly to clients, contractors, engineers, and regulatory agencies.

Bonus Points

  • Certifications: LEED AP BD+C, WELL AP, CPHC (Certified Passive House Consultant), or NCARB certification; additional credentials in historic preservation (APT) or accessibility consulting (ADAC) are a plus.
  • Sustainable Design: Deep expertise in sustainable and high-performance building design including LEED, WELL, Passive House, Living Building Challenge, and net-zero energy design strategies.
  • Interior Architecture: Experience with interior architecture, space planning, and finish selection for complex commercial, hospitality, healthcare, or workplace interiors.
  • Healthcare & Laboratory: Experience designing complex healthcare facilities, laboratories, or research buildings in compliance with FGI Guidelines, ASHRAE 170, and other specialized facility standards.
  • Historic Preservation: Experience with historic preservation, adaptive reuse, and rehabilitation projects in compliance with the Secretary of the Interior's Standards for Rehabilitation.
  • Computational Design: Proficiency in computational design and parametric modeling tools (Grasshopper, Dynamo, or similar) for generative design, performance analysis, and complex geometry development.
  • Visualization: Experience with architectural visualization tools (Enscape, Lumion, V-Ray, or similar) for photorealistic rendering, virtual reality walkthroughs, and client design presentations.
  • Urban Design & Planning: Familiarity with urban design principles, master planning, and community engagement processes for large-scale mixed-use, transit-oriented, or campus development projects.
