Job Description
We are adding a Web Developer Intern to our team to help us build out the internal infrastructure for an established London client. The work involves taking manual processes that currently live in cumbersome spreadsheets and turning them into stable, web-based tools. You will be working closely with our senior developers to build dashboards and data entry systems that help this client manage their daily operations more effectively. This is a full-time, fully remote position where you will get to see how professional software is built from the ground up.
About Pixel Systems
Pixel Systems is a small software agency that functions entirely remote. We skip the flashy consumer apps and social media clones to focus on the software that actually keeps businesses running. Our specialty is the practical stuff: admin panels, CRM integrations, and complex database migrations. Our clients come to us when their current systems are breaking or when they need to replace a sprawling mess of spreadsheets with a real database.
Our approach is simple and honest. We provide fixed quotes before we start any project, we show our progress through weekly demos, and we hand over everything once we are done: the code, the documentation, and walkthrough videos. We use reliable technologies like Node, React, and Postgres because we want the software we build to be stable and easy to maintain. We are a team that values working code over perfect plans, and we prefer solving real operational headaches over chasing the latest industry trends.
The Role
In this role, you will help us build the tools that real people use to do their jobs. A large part of your work will involve moving data between different systems and ensuring that information is displayed clearly on internal dashboards. You will be helping us write code to clean up legacy data, building out new frontend components for user interfaces, and ensuring that our applications are responsive and functional. This is not about making things look pretty for a marketing campaign; it is about making sure a warehouse manager or an operations lead can find the information they need without a struggle.
Since we are a remote team, you will spend a lot of time communicating in writing. You will be expected to update your progress frequently and ask questions when you hit a wall. You will see the entire lifecycle of a project, from the initial data mapping to the final delivery to our client in London. This internship is a paid position, and we offer a rate that is competitive for the role and the current market.
What we look for
We are looking for someone who is organized and has a basic grasp of how the web works. You do not need to be an expert, but you should be comfortable with HTML, CSS, and the basics of JavaScript. Most importantly, you should be someone who enjoys logical puzzles and is okay with work that is useful rather than flashy. We value clarity in code and in communication.
- A basic understanding of web development and how browsers render pages.
- The ability to write clear, readable code that follows a logical structure.
- Familiarity with the command line and basic file management.
- Good written communication skills for remote coordination.
- A willingness to learn how to handle data and move it between different systems.
- An interest in building practical tools for business operations.
- A reliable internet connection and the ability to manage your own schedule in a remote setting.

While we do not expect you to have professional experience yet, it is helpful if you have worked on some personal projects or university assignments using specific tools. Any experience with the following will help you get up to speed faster:
- Basic familiarity with React or another modern JavaScript framework.
- Knowledge of Node.js and how to run simple scripts.
- Experience using Git and GitHub to manage your code versions.
- A basic understanding of how databases like Postgres work.
- Curiosity about how APIs connect different software tools together.
- Experience following a technical tutorial to build a functional web application.

Working here is different from working at a large corporation. We do not have layers of middle management or complex internal politics. You will work directly with senior developers who have been building software for a long time. Because we are remote, we focus on results rather than hours spent at a desk. We ship work that solves real problems for our clients, like the established London business we are currently supporting.
You will learn the practical side of software development: how to write code that is easy for others to read, how to document your work so a client can use it, and how to fix things when they break. We are a quiet, productive team that values honesty and straightforwardness. If you want to learn how to build software that business owners actually rely on, you will find plenty of opportunities here.
At Pixel Systems, we take pride in being the team that handles the difficult, unglamorous work that makes a business successful. We do not believe in drama or overcomplicating our processes. We just want to build things that work. This internship is a chance to see how a small, senior team operates and to gain experience that is applicable to the real world of software development.
