Senior OCI Security Engineer

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for an OCI Security Engineer based in the United States.

This role focuses on securing and governing enterprise cloud environments built on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, ensuring robust protection across identity, data, network, and workload layers.

You will design and implement security architectures that enforce strong guardrails, compliance standards, and least-privilege access across complex OCI tenancies.

The position plays a critical role in detecting, preventing, and responding to security threats across cloud and hybrid Oracle environments.

You will work closely with engineering, infrastructure, and compliance teams to ensure secure-by-design cloud deployments at scale.

The environment is highly technical and security-driven, with strong emphasis on automation, observability, and continuous improvement.

You will also contribute to incident response, vulnerability management, and regulatory compliance initiatives across enterprise systems.

This is a hands-on role where your expertise directly strengthens cloud resilience and enterprise security posture.

Accountabilities

• Design and implement OCI security architectures, including tenancy guardrails, compartment strategies, and security zone configurations.
• Manage OCI Identity and Access Management, including federation with enterprise identity providers and RBAC policy enforcement.
• Implement and maintain key management and secrets handling using OCI Vault, including encryption lifecycle and key rotation.
• Harden cloud workloads across compute, networking, and database services using CIS benchmarks and OCI security standards.
• Operate OCI Cloud Guard and tune detection rules to identify and remediate security risks proactively.
• Configure logging, auditing, and SIEM integrations for centralized monitoring, threat detection, and forensic analysis.
• Implement data protection controls using OCI Data Safe, including masking, discovery, and privileged access monitoring.
• Lead vulnerability management, patching programs, and remediation tracking across cloud assets.
• Support compliance initiatives aligned with frameworks such as PCI-DSS, SOC 2, HIPAA, ISO 27001, and FedRAMP.

• Conduct threat modeling, architecture reviews, and incident response activities for OCI environments.
• Develop automation scripts and tools using Python, Terraform, and OCI SDK/CLI to improve security operations.
• Maintain detailed security documentation, runbooks, and architectural standards for operational continuity.
• Mentor engineering and operations teams on cloud security best practices and secure design principles.
  
  

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 5+ years of cloud security experience with strong hands-on expertise in Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI).
• Deep knowledge of OCI IAM, identity federation, and role-based access control models.
• Hands-on experience with OCI Cloud Guard, Vault, Security Zones, and Data Safe.
• Strong understanding of cloud security frameworks, CIS benchmarks, and secure configuration practices.
• Experience with vulnerability management, patching processes, and risk remediation.
• Working knowledge of compliance standards such as SOC 2, PCI-DSS, HIPAA, or ISO 27001.
• Strong scripting and automation skills using Python, Bash, and Terraform.
• Experience integrating cloud environments with SIEM platforms for monitoring and alerting.
• Strong communication, incident response, and documentation skills.
• Exposure to multi-cloud security, zero-trust architecture, or SOAR tools is a plus.
