Your Profile & DNA:
We are seeking an experienced Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) Engineer with strong expertise in Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) technologies, particularly Microsoft Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD).
The successful candidate will be responsible for the end-to-end management, optimization, automation, and support of the organization's Azure Virtual Desktop environment. This includes deploying and administering AVD infrastructure, maintaining virtual desktop images, ensuring platform availability and security, and delivering an optimal end-user experience.
Roles & Responsibilities
Azure Virtual Desktop Administration
- Manage, monitor, and administer Microsoft Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) environments.
- Configure and maintain AVD resources using the Azure Portal and third-party management tools such as Nerdio.
- Deploy new Azure Virtual Desktop features and platform enhancements.
- Ensure the availability, performance, scalability, and security of the AVD environment.
- Monitor platform health and proactively resolve operational issues.
Virtual Desktop & Image Management
- Provision and configure new Host Pools, Session Hosts, and associated AVD resources based on business requirements.
- Manage and maintain golden images for virtual desktop deployments.
- Create and update standardized desktop images as required.
- Optimize image management processes to improve deployment efficiency and user experience.
User Support & Troubleshooting
- Analyze and resolve issues affecting virtual desktops, published applications, and end-user sessions.
- Troubleshoot performance, connectivity, profile, and application-related problems.
- Work closely with application support teams to resolve application compatibility issues within golden images.
- Provide technical support for complex AVD-related incidents.

Profile & Policy Management
- Configure, manage, and optimize FSLogix Profiles.
- Administer Remote Desktop Session Host (RDSH) policies and configurations.
- Ensure consistent user profile management and session performance.
Collaboration & Endpoint Management
- Partner with the Microsoft Intune team to coordinate Windows operating system updates and application deployments.
- Collaborate with application teams to validate software compatibility within the AVD environment.
- Work closely with infrastructure and security teams to implement platform improvements.
Automation & DevOps
- Collaborate with DevOps engineers to automate AVD deployments, provisioning, and operational tasks.
- Support Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) and automation initiatives where applicable.
- Improve operational efficiency through scripting and automation.
Disaster Recovery & Documentation
- Design, implement, and maintain Disaster Recovery (DR) solutions for Azure Virtual Desktop.
- Ensure business continuity through regular testing and validation of DR procedures.
- Develop, maintain, and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and operational documentation.
- Contribute to operational best practices and knowledge sharing.

Qualification & Experience
- A Bachelor's or Master's Degree or equivalent.
Azure Virtual Desktop
- Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD).
- Experience managing enterprise Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) environments.
- Knowledge of AVD architecture, deployment, administration, and troubleshooting.
- Experience managing Host Pools, Session Hosts, and Workspace configurations.
Microsoft Azure
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Azure services.
- Experience deploying and managing Azure infrastructure.
- Familiarity with Azure networking, storage, identity, and security services.
Image Management
- Experience creating, maintaining, and deploying golden images.
- Experience managing standardized desktop images in enterprise environments.
Profile Management
- Strong experience with FSLogix Profile Containers.
- Knowledge of profile optimization and user session management.
Endpoint Management
- Experience working with Microsoft Intune.
- Understanding of Windows endpoint management and application deployment.

Automation
- Experience with scripting and automation (PowerShell preferred).

- Knowledge of backup, recovery, and business continuity planning.
