Role Description

The Forward Deployed Engineer - AI & Automation role is a remote, contract position focused on designing, building, and deploying AI-driven automation solutions for client teams. Day-to-day responsibilities include collaborating with stakeholders to understand operational pain points, scoping technical requirements, and implementing backend services and integrations that connect AI models with existing systems and workflows. The role involves developing and maintaining production-grade code, testing and iterating on solutions based on user feedback, and ensuring reliable performance and observability of deployed systems. The engineer will also document architectures and processes, support pilot rollouts, and contribute to best practices that enable scalable, human-centered AI implementations across dozens of clients.


Compensation

Annual Retainer/salary: $100k - $150k/year + quarterly performance bonus


Qualifications

  • Ability to multitask across multiple projects and multiple accounts simultaneously
  • Comfortable interfacing with clients, face to face
  • ability to translate vague business requirements to technical requirements
  • Foundational knowledge in Computer Science, including algorithms, data structures, and software engineering principles.
  • Proficiency in Programming and Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) for building maintainable, extensible codebases.
  • Experience with Back-End Web Development and Software Development for APIs, services, and system integrations.
  • Hands-on experience with AI/ML tools, automation platforms, or workflow orchestration frameworks (e.g., Python, RESTful services, cloud-based AI services).
  • Ability to work directly with non-technical stakeholders, translate business requirements into technical solutions, and iterate quickly based on feedback.
  • Strong debugging, testing, and performance optimization skills, with familiarity in version control (e.g., Git) and CI/CD practices.
  • Comfort working in a remote, contract setting with self-directed time management and clear communication across distributed teams.
